My two biggest gripes are that
1) My previous cheapy Vizio Plasma has been through more static images and suffered no consequences over 4 years of use.

2) I have played Forza 3 for 4+ hours and there is no burn in of the Forza HUD.

The two objects burned in are the Cartoon Network logo... which couldn't have come from a paused image because my Dish Network overlay isn't burned in.

And a game HUD from Banjo Kazooie, which gets played maybe 8 hours a week... maybe.

It is hard to capture it in pictures, but the logos are pretty obvious anytime you have a lighter color background.

You are now the second victim in this thread of the CN logo.

Note to self: Cartoons are bad

Question about the optical output on the S2. If I were to connect my cable box or even my Xbox 360 via component, would the audio be able to play over the optical output? I was concerned since optical is digital and component is analog.

You proven more than once you have no clue what your talking about, you couldnt even choose the right tv the first time, and now you are a hypocrit. Please troll elsewhere, and welcome to my ignore list. You are not the first, and you will not be the last.

And I guess by your math, the Ideal Lume must cost $1000, because the DVDO aint that much.

0 is zero. Many will tell you that 50 is zero, but this has a good bit of edge enhancement at 50. Mines at 15, because I found it to be right on the edge of none, vs a little.

If you run an audio source into the tv, it will output it via the optical. Its only 2 channel though, regardless of what audio you put into the tv.

Ok cool. I'm not ready just yet to invest in a good receiver/5.1 setup yet, so I want to keep the 2.1 setup I have:
http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/revie...ith-subwoofer/

I want to get this converter in order to make sure all audio from the TV is converted to analog:
http://www.hdtvsupply.com/digital-to...converter.html

And maybe next year I will get a good 2011 receiver and some speakers to go with it. I looked at the S2 manual and it looks like I would just have to make sure all audio is being outputted as PCM in order for the above converter to work.

If you get in to it, it's well worth it. I was a HTiB guy, and am kicking myself now. I spent a little time building, between the Denon, Klipsch sub and Def Tech speakers. I only have a 3.1 system, but man do the HD audio's sound great when watching a Blu-ray. Take your time, and build a good system, piece by piece if you have to. A good audio system will last you a LONG time.

I hear you. Once I decide between the G25 and the S2, my next purchase will be one of the 2011 receivers and I'll buy my speakers one by one.

But for the immediate future, I want to keep my speakers. The sound from them are amazingly good for a 2.1 setup. Best $50 I spent in my life. lol

Ive had both Onkyo and Denon, and I prefer the Denon sound, plus it runs a lot cooler. The Pioneer recievers are nice too. If you get a unit with Audyssey setup, make sure it does at least 6 positions.

Well, enough OT

I use the above settings - posted somewhere in this thread. After a good 2-3 months of casual watching the set (50S2) looks awesome! A lot of good info here!

Just checking in to the thread. Not sure why AVS has devolved into a spelling bee, but apparently such things matter to this Pologuy.

Wow, I guess spelling/typing *really* matters to this Pologuy. Not sure why anybody would think that's important on an AVS forum that is known for its content, but anyhoo. Heck, it looks like he even referred to himself as:

Hey guys so i ran the slides, did dnices settigs on the offset and did the cinema settings etc, and i must say i cant agree with most of you saying the pic looks amazing. Im really upset with the picture quality im getting out of a plasma tv which is suposed to be amazing. With the cinema settings im getting thr same exact picture quality as my parents projection tv! The cinema setting is making my PQ dull and cloudy and sometimes when you focus really hard on a pic you can see pixels move like if it was grainy. In a dark part of a movie forget it, its noticeable. I dont know if i should even take this tv back for my money back or not because after running the slides for 120hrs noone who lives with me has noticed a difference. Could i get any help on how to improve pq?
Like its hard to say but my parents room insignia 30" plasma has better pq than my 65" and that one wasnt even calibrated!
And i tried calibrating iit with spears and mundil but nothig...

Pologuy,

I should point out that many of the spelling mistakes that you point out are, in fact, grammar errors.....which is kind of ironic.

I do agree that spelling and grammar errors are annoying, but an argument on this form shouldn't devolve into solely a series of grammar corrections.

Some are spelling, some are grammar...

But if you are going to be rude, sarcastic, and belittle someone else's post because you don't like it, or it's been asked before, or it's beneath you to answer it... at least know how to spell in your rude, sarcastic, rant...

That is all I am saying...

They bitch at other people who just come here for help...

If you are going to be so "high and mighty" at least know how to spell in your bitchy rant...

That was my point...

There have been a few individuals who have been disappointed ... but I would venture to say that most folks (me included) are quite happy with the PQ.

Are you looking at an HD source on your cable box ... or SD? How about a DVD or Blu-ray disc? How do those look?
