Beautiful set. Just to clarify, this doesn't have the tru-black filter on it? If IR is not bad and black levels reach the pk550 measured 0.008 fL then this, or more likely the pk950 could be the sleeper hit of 2010.

Depends if you want to wait three weeks for the review ? He is going out of town for three weeks starting tomorrow.

It will have 5 hours of beak in time. Lets face it folks, there is no Hard evidence / tests stating that beak in actually helps anything. Then we could go into how many hours is correct, ect ect. Break in is more of a preference.

Do I break in my personal sets? NO

When we calibrate units, do we break them in? Yes, only because I will not have to have a conversation on this topic .

It does not look like this one has tru-black filter. At least it does not look that dark to me. Where did you get that 0.008 for PK550 measurement?
I am really torn bet Pany G25 Sammy C590 and this one.

Will there be any picture quality difference between the 550s and 750s?

I hope this is the right thread.

Calibration can't hurt it thats for sure, its just how accurate will it be(I'm sure pretty close) so no you don't need to wait to calibrate it for us. Calibrate it now and then in a month we can see what has changed if anything from the original calibration numbers. So YES calibrate that baby and tell us what you think .

That was in the LG pricing thread. A review was done here: http://translate.google.com/translat...ml&sl=el&tl=en

It quoted a black level of 0.03 nits which I guess converts to 0.0088 fL.

Do I have a good reason to stay up all night? Is the review going to be released later today? (or tomorrow here in Europe).

Hmm...that is actually not bad at all seeing that Pany S1 has 0.0098fL measured after 325 hours (according to D-Nice http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1#post18321141)

There should be no differences about picture quality. From what I know they have same video processor, same panel and same calibration options.

As far as reflection in the provided pics...I have seen a lot worse on a lot of other plasmas. That is a nice looking display. LG is definitely earning some style points this year.

^ I agree, its typical plasma reflection maybe a little more since no filter but they always look that way when off, or the ones with no anti-glare do. Can't wait to hear if the get it looking stellar.

That's not a bad looking TV. I've really been impressed by the way LG has been improving their products over the last year or so. Can't wait to see what the 950 can do.

Lets talk about glare:

If the screen is glass or a form of glass it will glare no matter what. I do not care what type of filter it has, or what type of coating it has, it will glare to some degree. Now lets talk about anti-glare properties, the more a screen does not glare "usually" the picture quality is worse. So the more a screen has less reflection, the picture does not look as good. Prime Example: Samsung high end LCD/LED use a glossy screen, have you ever wondered why? Easy, the picture looks better over all, but (you guessed it) there is more glare.

--I'll take a glossy screen that glares any day over insuperior picture quality.

exellent point that i wish more people understood...i personally watch most of my content in a dark room so matte or reflective finish doesnt make a difference in my situation plasma or lcd

The last official TV that I owned was a Sony 36" XBR CRT HDTV, that had the foot print of a refrigerator and weighed about as much, had a ton of glare but also a stellar image. Just curious though, if looking at the glare and it shows distortion when you move around, is this caused by a warped glass or something else?

glossy black tape works great to cover a logo.

even the Pioneer logo is ugly... in fact.... all logos are ugly!

the Elite logo is the best looking... but a regular Pioneer Plasma logo is just as ugly if not more ugly than the LG logo.
