i'm fine with plasma (i think!). only think abt has on website in 7000 series is PN64D7000 and PN64E7000FFXZA. closer in size to my 58" they have PN60E8000 and PN60E6500 - with the latter probably being closer... we'll see what they offer up -

Yeah, even better. The "E" series, is the 2012 models. See if you can get the E8000. I haven't heard much about them though, I'm sure they will have their issues too. Keep us posted on what you get.

Wow I wish they would just replace my panel first.. Since i have the same problem. There coming to replace some circut boards and firmware on mine first. The tech told me that is what samsung wanted, then when it dont work, they will replace panel. Anybody else had X or Y boards replaced first? I think that is what he called them..

the only reason they're talking replacing the tv is because the 'new' panel they put in today crapped out immediately!

Can anyone give me some pointers as to what is wrong with my tv? I've posted a thread here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...7#post21715627

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

My new panel install went pretty smoothly. I had to help the tech lift out the old panel and place the new one in. He should have tipped me. Anyways, the new panel looks great. It is noticeably brighter and sharper than my 20 month old defective panel. I am happy. Hope this panel lasts.

Well guy came out to fix the pink strip on my 63-C7000 lets say he fixed the deep color of it, but spread it out into a much larger line across the screen.. so not fixed.. Lady from Samsung called and asked if i was happy with the repair. so i told her the tv was not fixed, just changed. And asked me if i would like to exchange it in there exchange program. But also said an upgrade fee could applie.. I says my tv was in warrentie and did not last a year and u want money from me.... But she says theres a chance it would cost me nothing or i can still try to have another company look at my set and try to repair it.. So now to wait for the next call.. u guys that have done the exchange been offered tv,s that would cost. and some that would not cost..? I'm wondering if there out of screens if thats why they offered an exchange.

Thought i would update my above post.. Samsung called me today and offered me a portion of my purchase price minus 20%. or a brand new
64E7000 to be delivered in about 2 weeks.. i said hell ya to the new tv (In a hard to get kinda way ).. only crappy thing is, it will only have a 60 day warrenty. unless i want to pay a few hundred dollars for a full year. Kinda sucks to not get the year the tv would have came with.. I guesse it is a small price to pay.

I will do that.. Looks like i might be one of first on here to get one. Dont really like being an early adopter. So i hope all is good.. On another note i see they moved the ARC function to only the 8000s starting with the D series?? Or am i wrong.. I run long cables and it kept every thing in sync very nicely with my Denon

So FINALLY I have a new panel installed as well...Not really thrilled with the response or communication from the vendor that Samsung provided, but regardless it is FINALLY replaced even though I reported this issue to Samsung back in the end of January. I plan to leave my TV running for the next few days straight and make sure no new pink/purple/issues come about...then time to calibrate again!

I'm curious if those with new panels so far have had repeat issues? The tech I had did mention he had a few of these repairs so far, and the newer replacement panels just "looked" better? I guess once I hook the i1 up to it I can see what the factory has going on compared to my old panel I calibrated...

The tech that worked on mine could make the purple/ pink issue/lines come and go with adjusting the voltages.(could be good for people samsung wont help) But a bigger dim greyish line was left across the middle of the screen.. But in all the research i did on this, seems for most peps it took just about a year for it to appear. I could be mistakened but i thought it was tied to some of early tvs coming out of the factory with voltages being wrong or off alittle. I will say on mine the pink is gone the pic seems way brighter but also seems put off a ton more heat..

I bet they give you a new set.. I think i got lucky they were not even gonna try and put a new screen in mine unless i wanted it or did not have any, but instead just offered me a new tv.. Probly a good thing since my repair guy called a 8 inch wide dull gray line across the screen perfect.

LOL I noticed the same thing too on mine (before the panel got swapped out)--I could make it come and go simply by fiddling with the contrast setting; what's really weird about that is that the pink band was not consistent with any particular contrast range--e.g., pink band at 85, no pink band at 70, pink band at 55, no pink at 40, etc.

My battle continues. My pn58c8000 delveloped the purple horizontal bars. I contacted Samsung and they switch out the panel. The new panel did the same thing. They then switched out the main board, voltage input boards, and tried to change the voltage. It never really worked.

Samsung contacted me and replaced my set with a PN59D8000. I was happy to get the next years model but there was a lot the C8000 did better. The sound is way better on the C8000 and it has amazon streaming that the D8000 doesn't. The web browser on the D8000 is pretty much worthless. The updated menus are nice I guess.

Anyway now my D8000 has developed vertical lines. From the very beginning it had one vertical line on the left side but now there seems to be one ever 2-3". Very noticeable on light scenes or while watching something when the camera moves from side to side (basketball, golf, nascar, ect.)

I put in a request to have this set serviced and have an appointment on Friday. I must say that Samsung has been awesome so far with their service and my local service tech has been amazing. I just wish I never had to deal with that end of the company. I hope they stick with me on this next repair.

Hi, first time posting here. Finally signed up so I could join in on the fun.
Been following the forums for years, what would we do without them?

Owner of a PN58C6400. I have too been blessed with the pink/purple stripe(s) and also faint vertical lines in extreme white or bright screens. Had a tech here once under extended warranty and he replaced one of the boards, that seemed to almost fix or at least tame down the problem for a bit. Its been about a month and its beginning to show up again. Ill try and hold out for a bit in the hopes of possibly a new model replacment, by then last years models may be almost extinct lol

**Update**
So a little over a month since having a board replaced the TV begins to show the racing stripe again. This problem originally started 11 months after purchase. Stopped into the store where I purchased the TV and explained the situation to the manager, since it was the Christmas rush he says stop back in the new year and they will have it taken care of. Obviously at that point there would be a possibility I would have to use my extended warranty, he says no no don't worry. So anyway I end up following the advice, I'm given the number to the service company they use for extended warranty and a "sorry sir we should not have said that".
Long story short...I write an email to the company where I purchased the TV just in frustration that I was given the incorrect info and advice from their store. (Yes I know I should have just contacted Samsung to begin with) I also call Samsung to same day just to see what they would have to say or offer. My TV is now 2 months and 29 days so they can not honour the 1 year warranty, also I do inform them I know of many people 6 or 7 months out of warranty and Samsung had fixed or replaced their TV. Still nothing going to be done.
The next day I receive an email from the head office of the store I purchased from, basically they did understand where i was coming from although I should not have listened to the in store advice. They also tell me they have contacted Samsung on my behalf showing our exchanged emails and hopefully something will come of this.
I get a call from Samsung the next day, they have approved the service of my TV even though it is out of warranty.
Stupid situation all around. A new panel has been ordered should be here next week. I know this wont fix it, but it is one step closer to a new TV I'm guessing since Samsung will be footing the bill and not the store.

I have tried turning my DVR and AVR on manually first for about a minute then turning the TV on. The same thing happens so the cause of the problem seems to be the TV on sequence. I don't know why it affects the sound. The TV takes longer to come all the way on than it used to.

Ideas?

Samsung sent a local authorized technican out. He seemed to know about the "slow start" problem. He replaced the power supply. For good measure, he replaced the X-board as well. The repair cost $600.

Samsung didn't cover the repair under warranty. Fortunately I bought the TV with a credit card that extends the warranty one year.

Ya i noticed there were some missing features also, But some new ones added. From the C 7000 to the E 7000. I'd rather have the missing that moved to only the 8000 model. But just got comfermation that my E model is on the way, so we will see how it go's. never had a tv shipped before and i have a fairly bumpy dirt road to my house.

Wow I hope they warranty mine. I purchased it Oct 22 2010. I have never had a television go out before. My Panasonic Plasma is six years old and as good as the day I bought it. About three weeks ago purple bands started showing up on my PN63C8000 and I thought it was source material but it's getting worse and showing up in different places now from different sources.
