Pink Banding

Just joined up to say happy for those who have solved there pink blues lol. Im very informed from all my reading from those suffering and was looking to see if anyone has come across the 2D58 logic file as ive seen both the 58 3D and also the 63 3D files made available to all involved, just have not seen the file for the 2D 58 and 63 inch Do I really need the bin file or am I to assume the Voltage increase is my only option...Cheers.

I should have read a little further to see Myron_H could only get the logic file from a tech visit. I have a PN58C590 which would use the same bin file its just sad to see that the file didn't surface yet but the 3D58 and 63 have both shown up. Could someone advise me if the voltage route will render the same effect as it seem to be my only option to rid my Plasma of the Pink Headache.

Hi!

I have the 63" version. Was reading this forum and was ultimately happy to find a solution to the problem... Until all the hope went down.
My tv´s secret menu doesn´t have the needed option bacause of the samsung firmware update:

7- Under PDP Options find LOGIC USB D/L

Reason in the newest firmware im on That means if you have T-VALDEUC-3018.1 installed.
Samsung destroyed my only hope to get this TV fixed !
What in the name of god can i do now ? Any ideas ? The fix exists but i can´t install it because of the missing menu choice.
Please somebody help!
Any ideas, Could a Samsung person maybe update it ?

Thanks
Kimmo

My 58c8000 had the pink banding for couple of years now. They originally replaced my screen under warranty but the problem came back a while later and I was SOL. After trying the logic board update it appears to have fixed it. I upgraded the logic board after upgrading to 1037 firmware. Thanks to all for the tutorials. Very easy fix.

Upgraded to firmware 1037 and used the logic.bin file to fix the purple banding. Everything went well, no more purple banding. Do make sure you keep your picture settings though.

FYI - motion judder (smooth) after the 1037 seems to be fixed, no more ghosting. And the soap opera effect is very very limited. Actually looks pretty good now.

Thanks for this! Was beginning to think I'd need to buy a new tv.

vertical stripes on 3d mode only

For folks who may be troubleshooting a similar problem, I also noticed that the problem gets worse as the TV warms up. Good picture with cold TV, but pretty bad within 5 min.
My 2010 pn63c8000 has developed the issue described here. If I play 3d from directv or my samsung 3d blueray i get the vertical stripes across the entire screen. If i watch from the 3d internet tv option it might play for a few seconds, then it exhibits the issue. The picture is complete snow if you will of vertical lines when this happens. Because it works for 30 seconds or so when cold on internetTV options, I'm hoping its not a complete plasma display failure, but maybe a board. It also rules out HDMI cables, but admittedly it will work for few seconds on internetTV 3d, where full 3d via directv or blueray fails immediately.

If I use the 2d-3d button, it works fine - although it occasionally shakes for s second or so then clears up.

2D only mode is still fantastic after all these years. I have searched to no avail on this issue, other than CinciPhil I seem to be the only having it?
Please help, i am stuck with 2d for now.

For anyone who is thinking of doing this. My PN51 440 model developed the Purple/Pink banding issue. It was about 6 inches and ran the length of the screen. I took the back off and adjusted the Vs about a quarter turn clockwise and voila. The whole process took about 10 minutes. I don't know if it's a permanent fix, but it's definitely worth a shot.

The Official Samsung PNxxC6500, PNxxC7000, and PNxxC8000 Owner's Discussion T...

Well, my in-laws were in town, my father-in-law "pressed some buttons", and now anything I try to watch on my PN63C8000 connected via my Pioneer VSX-50 gives me this message "No signal. Check connected device's power, cable connection, and source selection."

Dead HDMI board or handshake issue?

(I should mention that my Directv box is the HR-44. Also a Logitech Ultimate Home remote... I have found reference to possible timing issues in startup, so I'll try s few things and post my results.)

Pink banding - firmware upgrade fail

Firmware wont load. Posted on other thread as well

Hi,

I have been reading all these posts from this thread and from the main owners thread. I have to say I am frustrated as hell. i have no problem entering the service menu with the regular remote using the codes but every time I try the download it just says fail.

I have the right structure on usb, file name etc. Even did several new downloads and tried 3 different usb sticks. I have the PN58C7000 and the correct file. i have got into the service in several ways but always a fail. Every time I go into hotel menu I lose my settings as well, which is fine but frustrating as it wont upgrade.

All I can think of is I did upgrade for version 1037 from the tv, and this may have prevented the upgrade. i also did a factory reset from the service menu and tried again with the same fail result

Has anyone with my model had the same experience with trying this after installing 1037? Or maybe is there a way to downgrade that to earlier then try the usb again?

If it wont go I gues I can try the voltage fix but was hoping to avoid that. Everyone that seems to have down the firmware has had great success.
Any feedback appreciated

Y Main Board Replaced

Not sure if this has come up yet because there are 8000 posts in this thread, but I just wanted to share an experience I had with my PN50C8000.

I have had 2 panels replaced by Samsung (mentioned earlier in this thread,) after becoming a victim of the pink banding. Both happened after the warranty had expired, but I emailed Samsung's VP of North American Operations and was able to persuade them to replace the panel twice out of warranty. The most recent replacement was late last year so basically I have a brand new 2010 TV! The panel was brand new according to the tech whom I have grown close to after so many visits lol.

Anyway, about a month ago, the tv would not turn on and I had three clicking noises when I plugged it in the wall. After some frustrating research, I decided to attempt to repair the tv since it was technically brand new and they don't make plasmas anymore. I can't afford OLED and I hate traditional LED/LCD tvs.

I ordered a power supply board, Y main board, x main board, logic control board, and main board from shopjimmy.com. Parts arrived 3 days later. I replaced them one at a time and attempted to turn on the tv. Nothing changed. I returned the parts to shopjimmy. I was very frustrated and was about to throw out the tv when I decided to see what good old Samsung would do for me. I called them and they sent out my friend again, his 5th visit in 2 years, and he suggested that sometimes the parts from online dealers are broken when they arrive. He took one look at the tv and said, try another Y main board. So I did. I ordered it, replaced it, and plugged in the tv. The sound of it turning on made my wife from the other room exclaim "WHOA, I KNOW THAT NOISE!"

So now I have my beloved tv back in action and I am only out $54 instead of the $400 Samsung was going to charge me to repair it.

I have the PN63C8000 and applied the firmware update using the regular remote and pink banding is gone. This is so much easier than taking it off of the wall and removing the back, etc. Thanks to those who supplied the remote code, firmware, and detailed instructions.

^^ Well that's not a quick answer. I can tell you this, plasma has been discontinued. So if PQ is at the top of your priority list, then you're looking at buying used plasma or going OLED (big bucks). Some very high end LED displays are getting pretty good reviews, but you'll have to go do some homework in that sub forum.

The question your asking is the same one everybody is asking.

Does anyone know how to clear out Netflix settings on the PN50C8000?

I've deactivated it, many times, using the Kanomi code (open up the Netflix app and then press on the the control pad in fast succession the following sequence: up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-up-up-up-up)

Every time I reactivate the app, it has the same basic settings from Netflix and isn't downloading new ones. For example, it will not take the setting from Netflix to play the next episode in a series.

I reset the entire TV to factory settings, losing all my calibration, much of which I hadn't documented , and it still didn't work. It's stuck with settings from 2010. In recent years I've used a different Netflix account and everything worked fine with that one. But going back to this account, it's stuck with old settings.

Thanks for the help.

Purchase

Do you guys think it would be wise to purchase a 58C8000 with confirmed pink issue? I am tech savvy and believe I could apply the update to fix it. Is it a pretty much guaranteed fix? I could buy it for $575.

Thank you,

Thank you,

That's a great price for this tv. Personally I'd want to make sure I could fix it before spending almost $600 but that's me. That an option?

Purchase

I bought it from a guy on eBay. I have the same tv in 50" and I was able to fix the pink. Hopefully I can do the same with this set. I just don't want to shell out thousands for a newer plasma. The supplies are dwindling...

Sad but true. If you've done it once already, you'll likely be able to figure it out again. Let us know how it turns out.

Pink Banding

I brought home the 58c8000 today and ran the logic.bin file successfully. Not much improvement with the pink areas. I adjusted the voltage per the service announcement. Not much better. I might have to resell the set, unfortunately. My wife doesn't mind the pink splotches, but it will drive me crazy...

Any other suggestions before I list it for sale again?
