Okay guys, I've combed the thread for the "game mode" settings, and the only post I found using settings for "game mode on" had it set to movie mode... on my c8000 you cannot move it out of the "standard" mode when using game mode.

Anyone have any properly calibrated settings for game mode? I use this same setup to play my xbox 360 and ps3 in game mode.

I'm a little confused. In the TV menu it list The white balance in this order:
red offset
green offset
blue offset
red gain
green gain
blue gain
Mantisboxer has them listed like this:
White Balance:
R Gain = 20 / 25
G Gain = 25
B Gain = 35 / 38
R Offset = 25
G Offset = 25
B Offset = 26
So how should I plug the values in?

Also which set of values should I use for night mode? The first or second set if values?
Custom Color Space:
R 44 0 3 / 50 0 6
G 21 25 5 / 19 29 5
B 0 0 67 / 0 0 76
Y 90 50 14 / 57 39 14
C 40 25 60 / 35 19 50
M 37 0 58 / 40 0 73

Question

I had to reset my PN50C8000 and haven't been able to find my old settings. Could anyone post their settings, especially under the current firmware.

Thank you very much.

Old thread! Happy to say by PN64C8000 is still going strong, although I did add a 4th year of warranty a few months after reading posts here. Regarding your question, below is a copy/paste of the settings I took from here years ago that I saved in my email. Pretty sure this is what I am running now...

It is our first plasma TV and at first I thought we had made a big mistake, the picture seemed kind of washed out on all modes except dynamic which was unwatchable too. But after trying some of the settings in this thread and later using the Digital Video Essentials disc, the picture is now much better, even spectacular on good HD content.

Based on my experience, I think the CNET settings are the best ones to start with.

But when I used the DVE disc to fine tune settings, I found the color was off a bit. I tried the white balance and color settings from Plasma TV, Dennis Thomsen, Glomby, etc but the ones that gave me the most accurate color were those posted by someone that had a professional calibration done. Interestingly, the 10p White Balance settings posted are all over the map. I wonder if those settings vary most from TV to TV.

The settings I'm using:
Mode: CAL Day
Cell: 18 (16 - 18)
Contrast: 94 (86 - 96)
Brightness: 53 (51 - 55)
Sharpness: 15 (0 - 20)
Color: 48 (47 - 52)
Tint: 50/50
Gamma 0 (0 to +2)
Warm 2

Color Space:
R 77 0 0
G 0 24 0
B 0 0 52
Y 48 47 0
C 0 27 50
M 76 0 50

White Balance
RO 24
GO 25
BO 24
RG 25
GG 25
BG 23

10 Pt. White Balance
1: 2, 0, -2
2: 0, 0, -1
3: 1, 0, 0
4: 0, 0, 0
5: 1, 0, 0
6: 0, 0, 0
7: 0, 0, 1
8: 0, -2, 0
9: -1, -1, 0
10: 2, 0, 2

All extra processing features turned off (Black Tone, Dynamic Cont., etc.)

I'm still playing around a bit with some of the settings in parentheses above.

The image coming out of this set in 2D is absolutely fantastic when calibrated, and although I've gotten some improvement by copying settings from the net, it was definitely worthwhile to give it some individual attention. Most of what I ended up with was very close to some of the other settings, so I'd say theyre worth a shot. Of course, I made sure to account for the MLL bug. Also, I'm giving settings for game mode only - you lose 10p white balance, but its already damn good without it. The settings dont seem to change whether or not in game mode.

Calibrated with a x-rite i1 LT, DVE HD and AVS 709 files.

Preset: Movie - this seems to give the best blacks out of all preset modes. Even though when you switch to game mode it changes the title to "standard", if you switch to game mode while in "movie", it will retain the better blacks.

Cell light: 15 (~34 ftl)
Contrast 85 (higher and whites crush)
Brightness: 57 (confirmed only 17 and above blinking on the AVS 709 pattern)
Sharpness: 0 (anything more adds artificial detail and ringing)
Color: 50
Tint G50/R50

Black Tone off
Dynamic Contrast off
Gamma +1 (this brought it perfectly in line to 2.2)
White Balance: (tracks very near 6500 except 20IRE and below, and I dont trust my meter below that anyway. There is no visible color cast to shadows.)
RO 22
GO 25
BO 22
RG 35
GG 25
BG 39

Color Space - Damn near perfect color, DeltaE all less than 5
Red R31 G0 B5
Green R28 G68 B2
Blue R9 G0 B64
Yellow R53 G60 B7
Cyan R32 G63 B60
Magenta R23 G0 B65

Flesh Tone 0
Edge Enhancement Off

Color Tone Warm 2
Screen Fit
Digital Noise Filter Off
Mpeg Noise Filter Off
Film Mode Off

I have had my Samsung Plasma 63" C8000 since late 2010. It just started shutting off randomly. Doesn't matter the source, DirecTV or Samsung bluray player, it will just shut off. The mother board has already been replaced. Next would be the power supply or so I am being told but not 100%. Anyone else run into these type of issues?

Samsung Hockey Settings: I have a 5300, so it's a cousin to some of these models. Hopefully, you guys have a solution and suggestion that is applicable from your models.

If any of you have a special setting for watching hockey, with the screen largely filled up with the white ice rink, let me know. I never realized the white ice on my 5300 (which I am breaking in now for 6 days) or my older 720p 50" Philips was a bit washed-out. But I watched tonight's hockey game on a 70" Vizio E-Series LCD and in both Standard/Vivid mode you could see the ice was alot whiter/brighter.

I've had my PNC700050" now for nearly 5 yrs and knock on wood never so much as a hick up with the set. I swear it looks better as it gets older although not likely. I have updated the firm ware from Samsung and will run the slides before the Indy 500 this Memorial Day Weekend.

I've used the following settings from the Plasma Buying Guide since day one and I'm wondering if anyone has a better(or more current) set up than the one from the guide. Copy and Paste link below as I don't have enough posts to do so.

I have this same set. Sadly, it is no longer trouble-free. About 6 or 9 months ago, a bright vertical line showed up about 10" from the left edge. Nothing to be done about it. Can't really afford to replace the panel right now. Thankfully, my kids (who use the panel the most) haven't been bothered by it. Same for my wife. I'm the only one bothered by it but I'll have to live with it.
