Mmmm.. Maybe just wait a few more days til samsung gets it online then do it through the TV's firmware upgrade menu. Don't bother with the USB method.

+ 1 for me as well. Received this TV as a replacement for my B860 and love it so far. Thankfully, I do not have any issues (so far) with buzzing, and the picture quality is amazing. I know there are other issues that have been discussed here (the MLL Bug) but it seems that all of these plasmas have a bug here or there. I think someone else said there isn't a "perfect" plasma.

Can you explain exactly what's not working please?

Sure,
When i press the activity button the first item that should turn on is the tv, followed by the PVR and then the Pioneer. I notice that during the tv power sequence the red led on the tv blinks off for about 1/3 of a second and then remains red, while everything else gest powered on. When i use the Help button on the Harmony remote and it resends the the signal it appears that the red led actually "blinks" off for a little more than a second, and the tv does turn on.

I always have to use the help button for the tv to turn on, no matter what activity i select that has the pn63C device in use.

Baffling.

I would try changing the order of power on. For me it is PVR then TV then AV receiver. You could try this order, or perhaps try the TV last.

Just ordered my PN63C8000 Sunday and will be receiving it July 5th. The manager at the Best Buy gave me a pretty good price for it so I couldn't pass it up. Can't wait as it will be my first Plasma and will replace my LN55A950 which replaced my LN-T5271.

Everyone says the C8000's picture quality is second to none so I should be in for a treat.

as long as you dont expect kuro like black levels you'll enjoy it. MJC creates some artifacts during panning scenes when there is a person moving in the picture as well. overall I'm happy with the TV, but I do think the black levels could be a bit better.

I tried to install the latest software but the tv won't take it. Choosing the update online option says there is no new software even though there is, and upgrading by USB it says no update files found even though I am sure they are on the USB properly.

Any trick to making the tv recognize the new software?

Thanks in advance.

This is a little off topic but I need someone with a PN63C8000 to answer a question. Would you tell me how wide the base is. The specs say the depth is 13.3 inches. I just need to know if my existing table is wide enough to hold the base.

While you are at it, does anyone know how far back from the face of the base the TV is mounted. IE: The TV sits 5 inches back from the front of the base.

I had the same problem while trying to download 1019 a few weeks back. However the sales rep at BB was able to dl firmware 1020 via online not the usb route.

I don't know why Samsung makes it so difficult to download updates.

I suspect a call to their cs department won't help either. I have had no luck with them. Their information pipeline to Samsung direct must be terrible.

I feel sorry for their CS department.

did you extract the file and copied the folder, created by the extraction process, on the usb stick? Thats the way it should work.

Got a quick question for you guys.

Are any of you running the wireless through the samsung dongle?

I have been continuously having problems with this.
1) I hardly ever wants to recognize my ssid unless I broadcast it, which i do not want to for obvious reasons.
2) Every time I try to watch netflix or listen to pandora it losses its connection after about 2-5 minutes.

I have multiple pc's and other devices on my network and am a bit fluent in networking so I cannot see how this could be anything other than an issue with the tv/dongle.

Any thoughts?

Click on the installation instructions on the same Samsung page where you downloaded the update.

Have had the PN63C8000 for almost 6 weeks now.

+1 from me. Hard to go wrong with it if you ask me.

No buzzing (woot)
Great picture quality
Slim and nice looking set.
Black levels plenty good.
Only noticed IR once for about 10 secs (black bars) after watching a movie.

Same here with the PN58C8000! What's your viewing distance from couch to TV? Which calibration settings do you use?

Are you switching the TV over to game mode? It should speed things up for you by disabling any processing it does otherwise.

I'm about 12-14' from the TV. I have mantisboxers' settings on the calday and calnight settings, but to be honest I'm usually all over the settings, enough so, the wife gets on to me becuase the menu's seem to get in her way. But there are so many setting adjustments once you get started it's hard to stop. One day I'm sure I will have exhausted all of the combinations and settle into one I keep returning to. As for now though I can like any one of them at any time. I guess that's a good thing.

I watch mostly DTV. Great PQ from DTV, would have a hard time leaving it.

The TV sits on a stand I'd guess to be 24" tall, and is about 12" out from a wall of windows with black out curtains. I'm using the Sammy 3d BD player hooked with hdmi to TV and 5.1 component out to my 3?yr old Panny 5.1 receiver, which feed a couple of old Pioneer towers up front and a Pioneer center channel hidden in the TV stand, and 2 Bose bookshelf speakers bringing up the rear. Oh yeah and a Sony 10"? powered sub. We never watch the TV without the A/V receiver on. And use a Harmony 670 I think it is to control it all.

We are both loving the set and continue to look forward to getting home!

There should be a button labeled P. Mode on the remote, this should let u switch to game mode. If not, hit the menu and look for an option labeled "entertainment" or something similar. This option is not in ur picture options menu, it may be in the settings or auto program menu.

Also, depending on the size of tv u previously played on, this tv may feel different. What size and technology r u coming from?

Yes there is, it's hidden.......

Press: Menu, go down to "Setup", go down to "General", select "Game Mode".

I couldn't find it either.

For those with the C8000 series plasma, can you please check the following 3D (side-by-side) trailer of "How to Train Your Dragon" and let me know if you see any cross-talk in any of the scenes? If you do see any, can you please share which detail has it? Thanks!

Link to trailer: http://www.biohemmet.se/ccount/click.php?id=91

On my C8000 set, I see it in 70% of the scenes accompanied with a dozen flickers (when the glasses try to sync with the tv)... I'd like to know if all Samsung sets are like this or if my tv is defective.

thanks!
