How's the glare on things? Looked at one at Sears and it was solid, PQ-wise.

I have reflections only because behind my head and directly across from the TV I have 5 tall mirrors mounted to the wall.
I deal with it > the plus is the swivel base, the TV can be moved to eliminate most of the glare.
Picture quality is quite stunning > lets hope these "deals" give us a long problem free life.

LOVE THIS TV!!!!

I use Big Brads settings from the official 50pk550 thread for HDMI, just turned the sharpness down about 5 notches. The PQ is stunning for such a cheap TV.

I would love to know if it's at all possible to get into the service menu of this TV with a cheap Vizio universal remote. And if so, if someone could give a newb like me step by step instructions I would be forever in your debt.

My 50" Zenith just continues to amaze me...it's on 12 hrs a day since 11/10 never any issues and looks beautiful
Hoping it continues to do so for several years to come...think I'm expecting too much?

Just got mine 2 weeks ago and it is a great TV! PQ is outstanding for 500$. But just last night I got around to connecting all my HDMI devices up and I discovered that HDMI input #2 dose not work. * No Signal* even after connecting multiple devices to the input. Just glad it is still under my 30 day return policy, just hope they have some in stock to replace it.

I did get the service menu using a "one for all" universal remote
The firmware is 3.09 and couldn't hack anything

Ok, Sears is sold out of these TV's all over in my area and do not plan on getting any more in stock. So I can't return it for a new one and the other options are to have the HDMI port repaired by Sears or I could return the TV for a complete refund and start my search all over again. Would like to keep this TV because i'm very happy with th PQ and the overall quality of it. Just not sure! What to do?

It's still under the manufactures warranty...I would call to have a repair person come fix it, could be a simple repair. That's really your only option.
and of course hoping (all my) HDMI inputs work >haven't even tried them yet.
Keep us posted

Can't figure out how to word this! Hope this makes sense. I want to adjust the audio input to my VIzio VSB200 sound bar using the TV's optical output. Right now I have to use the Vizio remote to turn the volume up/down on the sound bar. I want to use the TV's volume control to adjust the input to the sound bar. Is this possible with this Zenith? Is the optical output adjustable? Thanks for any help!

No optical output is adjustable on ANY TV. That output is digital, so you cannot control the volume like you can on an analog output. You may be able to get a learning remote that can operate the TV as you like, but also control the volume of the sound bar.

I thought that posting my calibrated settings for a dated, inexpensive TV would go completely unnoticed. But I guess it won't go unnoticed -- just unappreciated.

Far from "unappreciated"...but some of it is over (my) head.
The below settings I can grasp and experiment with And wouldn't be too surprised if (my) settings are somewhat close >not sure where my "gamma" is set???

Uh-Oh...for some reason my TV's not picking up any HD channels! "so signal"
Only CATV coming in.
Example CBS = ch3 in HD or ch2 in CATV > never had an HD box > cable out of the wall into the set.
Think it's the TV's QAM HD tuner or a temp problem with Comcast service???

Glad you're enjoying the TV. It's so much better spending $500 for amazing PQ instead of spending $1,500 for an LCD with sh*tty PQ.

I concur...soooo glad I purchased a plasma > the picture stunning! > I love the plasma's detailed, crisp cinema picture vs the soap opera look of LEC/LCD
And > > > it's only 720, but I can't tell one bit!

After 26 years I'm firing Comcast!
I just hooked up a $10.00 RCA antenna and did a scan, picked-up 33 channels and several are HD!
I feel I can do better with another antenna.
I may purchase the Mohu Leaf antenna > it gets excellent reviews.

Question, I didn't see it in the menu but, when scanning channels does the Zenith 50pj240 display separate channel signal strength anywhere???
I'm trying to better weak channels with antenna movement.

Thanks, Ray

I ditched the cable co, put an antenna on the roof and the picture is even MORE crisp and stunning!
