I purchased a TC-P50VT25, had it for a month before it was accidentally damaged (cracked the screen; won't turn on). Is there anyway to get the hours used without the display panel working?

At the time I only owned one credit card. I could of put it all on that one, but I opened a best buy card to take advantage of no interest, but it's limit wasn't high enough so I split the payment between the two cards. I don't believe the Best Buy card has accidental damage. I'm also doubtful if my VISA has it either. I was thinking claiming it was damaged in the delivery. I'm already out a TV so what's the worst that could happen? Not fix it?

Box it up and take it up to BB and tell them it has terrible buzzing and you want a replacement...lol. If that doesnt work, your home insurance probably covers that kind of thing. How did that happen?

If you have home owners or rental insurance, it would be worthwhile to give them a call. You may be covered. I have been surprised in the past what our home owners policy will cover including personal item, accidental breakage. Won't hurt checking it out. But, I feel your pain mate, as they say on AVF.

Am I correct in assuming that the question in your original post regarding whether the hours of use can be determined if the screen is inoperative is relevant to your idea to claim the set was damaged during delivery?

The real question is whether the girlfriend is still in that role, or has graduated to Ex-girlfriend?

If ex is appropriate, so is a small claims action to recoup the cost of the set.

If she is still in active girlfriend status, the op needs more help than a repair technician can provide.

As others have said you should try to get this covered under your home owners policy.

Trying to be fraudulent and claim it was damaged during delivery is not only dishonest, it drives up prices for everyone else.

If you were going to do something like that you really shouldn't post here first asking for the best way to pull off a scam.

Better yet, why don't you make your idiot girlfriend replace the very expensive tv she just broke that was only one month old?

My previous post wasn't meant to encourage your fraud, only to expose it. I find it interesting that there are so many people who see nothing wrong with this kind of crime as long as it's perpetrated on a big company like BB.

The fact that you knowingly put a set that's going to cost probably more than full retail to fix on Ebay for $800 is even more despicable.

Does not matter where a tv is purchased, inspect the unit with the driver before he leaves, if the unit is not needed rebox it.

Yes, that was the eBay listing. Both bidders pulled out after some "mistake." The first guy said his foreign wife wanted a cheap 3D TV and couldn't read. Yeah...

It was purchased April 1st. It was broke about a month and two weeks after purchase. My girlfriend does feel terrible, but she can't afford to replace it up front. Surprisingly, I wasn't as mad as I thought I would be at the fact, I am however disappointed it happened. It's not close to being paid off, I think the total purchase cost with an extra pair of 3D glasses was 3k. I have about 2k left to pay off, so its one big expensive paper weight sitting in my room. The display panel costs about $1785, not including the repair. I have a new home that needs more important things which makes repurchasing the TV a big issue. Do I think scamming BB is right? No. There are a million arguments that can lean both ways. I also understand that nobody is at fault but my girlfriend. I made an insurance claim and I'm just awaiting a call from the claims office about if it's covered. There is a 1k deductible, but I suppose that's better than 2.5k.

Paypal doesn't read the sellers side of the story or the auction details, they simply refund the buyers money.

LMAO. Funny. I was reading about this hear when before I saw it here. I had seen it on eBay. Wow dude. That just sucks. Like really really sucks. Next time you should invest in insurance. Our cards do have it as an option.
