Looks like the GT30 and ST30 will share the same panel for 2011 again! Infinite Black 2. I'd think that these would have equal performance to last years VT25

It seems like at least the Infinite Black Pro 2 and possibly Infinite Black 2 panels are the ones that may have the new rumored CEL based driving method. I'd definitely curious on some of the more technical things from these announcements.

My only reason for guessing this is because of the numbering. I'd figure if the GT and ST were just getting the same type of panel as the VT25 they would just get Infinite Black Pro with the VT30 getting Infinite Black Pro 2 although they could very well just want the VT to sound a lot better than the other series.

I find it amusing so many are concerned by how thick the panels are in respects to depth and bezel width. In fact it lessens strength of the panel and causes issues with light on the screen, never mind it is more flimsy as well.

With that said the bezel should at least have some pleasant aesthetics which Panasonic seems to rather adverse to.

Best Regards

wow, this thread is already eleven pages. lol. don't mean to be a nag, but can anyone explain to me what the difference between the ST30 and GT30 is besides the design? Seems to me they both share the same features and panels and are both available in larger sizes. Thanks.

Also, the new design of the VT30/GT30 reminds me of a facelifted V10.

The ST doesn't have THX mode and has one less HDMI and USB port than the GT. Those are the only differences outside of sizes and design.

No. Disregard just about everything you read about European or Asian models - they are very different than North American models (sizes, features, abilities, PVR, HDD, etc) and it just adds confusion to these threads. Stick with the North American info.

How soon til we hear about pricing? First time following CES and I need a new tv soon. I'm leaning towards a 50G20 but might be willing to wait for a 50GT30 or 55GT30 instead if the price is good.

what about this technologie from samsung. It seams like a much better solution than panasonic has...
Do you guys think that panasonic will jump on this technologie or will they stick to shutter, because seriously I dont see shutter technologie win the 3D fight with those big heavy 3D glasses.

Interesting that Panasonic is forcing you to pay for 3D capability now if you want a large plasma at a decent price, ie a 65" TV. The P65S2, the 2010 65" model without 3D can be had at about $1,600 on sale these days, whereas the 85" costs over $25,000. I was hoping that they would come out with a 70 or 75" plasma to fill the gap between the 65" and the 85".

This would also make sense now since, with the 2011 lineup, all Panasonic plasmas increase in size by 5" above 50" (ie no 54" anymore), except for the 103" one (but who can afford it for $50,000, or $100,000 for the 3D version).

Hopefully the least expensive 65", the P65ST30, now with 3D standard, won't have a list price greater than last years least expensive 65", the P65S2, without 3D. The real only extra features you are getting on the P65ST30, other than maybe the picture (quality, 24p and 3d) is the USB port, wireless Viera Connect (adapter included) and possibly a lighter unit and lower power consumption. But, with the SD card slot on the P65S2, which allowed you to load data, and the Viera Connect on Panasonic Blu-Ray players, this is no real advantage, just slightly more convenient. I wonder if the 3D glasses are extra (which increases the cost of this model even more).

maybe it's going to be a 75VT30. Seems like that would be better positioned between the 65" and the 85".

24p only on VT

Seriously, it's probably just a video game thingy or maybe about the upcoming Star Wars Blu-rays.

There is a strange discrepancy on Panny's site. That site only has 24p listed for the VT but this page: http://panasonic.net/avc/viera/us2011/ has a 24p playback mode listed for all of the 3D models. It'll probably only be on the VTs but I'd like someone to clear this up.

I doubt 24P is available only on the VT. Every single new TV set supports 24P. Perhaps you are confused about the 96Hz refresh rate found on the top models. On the VT specs , 24P shows as "24P cinematic", which suggests some better 24P processing.

That's where Panasonic is confusing people. One one site they have all of the Sets listed with 24P and on another site it's just the VT30 with 24P. So people don't know which one it is for sure.
