My friend saw this TV in person and liked how it looked

Samsung UN40C5000 40-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LED HDTV (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN40C5.../dp/B0036WT48S

But I hear Plasmas are the best these days. Anything around 40-42" at $600-800?

Maybe even $900

Panasonic TC-P42S2, or if you want something bigger you can get the 720p 50" TC-P50C2 for about the same price. Both are generally under $700. If you can spend a little more you may want to look into get a 50" S2.

No highs, no lows, must be Blose!

look into lg or samsung. panasonic low end tv's are nat as good. i own an lg pj350, i paid under 5 bills shipped to my house . best tv i ever owned destroys my sharp lcd, viewing angels, blacks, design 1 1/2 inches thick. under 50lbs, i own the 42inch. I use it for ps3, tv, & as a monitor.

I've had IR, but it goes away every time. the tv has an orbiter that shifts the pic around! so really burn-in is not happening. I left my ps3 on over night many times, & yes I woke up to IR, I thought it would be burn-in but nope. just IR.

IR, has stuck around for about 2hrs. most I have gamed is a 4hrs, I had IR, from god 3, but it went away. it always goes away .

The 50" S2 has been on sale within your extended range. I have the S1 and love it. great picture and AR is good on it. The S2 has an even better AR filter.

You can get a 42" Panasonic G25 on Amazon around that price. Probably the best plasma for the money. (in a 42")

A few days ago I purchased a Panasonic TC-P42S2 42" 1080p Plasma for about 5.5 bills on Amazon. I just checked and it's more now but I had been looking for a few weeks and that was the best deal I found. I was also originally looking for an LED but after some research I settled on plasma. Also, I believe all the Samsung 5000 series panels are made in China and lack the quality of the Samsung made panels.

The 42"/50" 720p Plasmas are the bang/buck kings right now.

If you look around you may can find the panny 42g25 for a good price. If thats too much and you can handle a 50, the sammy pnc550 is a good tv and getting cheaper.
