Too bad - LED still does not address the angle viewing problem and is more expensive. Plasma is just about as thin as LED screens.

There's a reason why that site is blocked here - it's really an advertising site masquerading as a review site and it's against the forum rules to link to it. A lot of the info they post on that site is often wrong and/or plucked from other websites so take anything you read there with a grain of salt. Stick with the more reputable sites.

The S64 will be made in 50" and 65" screen sizes, but in very limited production runs with very limited availability. It's basically a test-run initially.

I assume I can't just go with a costco member & buy it myself? If they bought it for me the tv/warranty would be in their name. Unless transferable?

The Panasonic warranty is not transferrable - it's valid only for the original purchaser. The "owner" of the TV would be whomever owns the membership card and the factory warranty (and Costco concierge warranty extension) belongs to your friend.

You have to be a Costco member to buy the TV in-store, but i believe non-members can buy it from their online store however you wouldn't get their automatic one-year concierge warranty extension.

I don't know anything about Sams Club.

Ah, thanks for the info. In that case I guess I'll stick with whatever they have at samsclub, including warranties.
