So I've been searching all over the internet about this and still really haven't found a solution to it. I just got a Panasonic Viera TC-P42S2 and when I hook up my component cables to the tv and my cable box it will display faint purple lines scrolling up from the bottom of the screen on all channels, HD and non-HD. The audio is also pretty fuzzy once you turn it up to a decent volume.

When I just run the regular auxiliary cable from the cable box to the tv it works fine, just not in HD. I had thought to get a HDMI cable but my cable box does not have an HDMI input. I do not think there is anything wrong with the component cable since it works just fine with another HD tv in the house using the same cable box.

Any help would be very appreciated on this.

I had a similar issue on my cable box & plasma too. I was able to use HDMI on mine (it had that option) instead of component & it is working better. But I seem to recall moving the cables around a little first to minimize interference from other cabling that was too close to them & that pretty much got rid of it. My cabling was rather sloppy then too.

Other than that I'm not sure.
