Unless Panasonic fixes rising blacks, I think the Samsung will be the better TV in every way.

Excuse me. But we do not have the required information to make any reasonable comparison.

IMHO, stating a fact related to the topic does not make you a troll.

Has nothing to do with troll its just that there are already a ton of threads about CES and Samsung, Panasonic sets. Why not just ask in some of these threads, instead of opening a thread asking a question no one can answere but just speculate.
I expect Panasonic and Samsungs Highend flagship plasmas to have pretty much the same picture quality. Both will have their pro and cons, like the 2010 models had.

Samsung pro:

better design (my opinion)
thinner
cheaper
better 3D glasses (at least the new ones they gone release)
no floating blacks
no black level rise
better processing

Samsung Cons:

not as bright as panasonic
Cinema smooth bug
buzz
higher blacklevel

Panasonic Pro:

bright picture
good blacklevel (pre-rise)
very good motion

Panasonic Cons:

not as thin as samsungs sets
50 hz bug
floating blacks
blacklevel rise
design (my opinion/2011 sets look ok, but samsung is still better for me)
bad processing

So, we have to see how the new sets will perform, but dont expect much to be fixed this year from the cons list...

I bet in a few months it will be talked about over and over again.

and this will be the most significant plasma VERSUS there will be for 2011.

do you want to bet?

it can't hurt to start thinking about this now seeing that we do have some info about them.

Forgot that Samsung colors are better in general and they lack Panasonic's green tint, which especially destroys yellow.

No, I don't want to bet..because, I agree. Really, it is good premise for a thread; however, how can we even begin to discuss which one will be a better value w/o having any MSRPs? If we did, then we could try to calculate about how much discount one could get on each brand, and then go from there. Without MSRPs, I really don't know what there is to discuss...yet.

Supposedly, of all of those issues, some have been fixed, and some have been improved; the question is: do you believe them?

I had heard some of them had supposedly been fixed or improved in '10, but they weren't; so I'm not believing anything just yet.

*(Post-Panasonic rise, Samsung betters or equals Panasonic with MLL, depending on TV sizes being compared. We don't know what '11 will bring in this regard, so we don't if Samsung will be worse, after a possible Panasonic rise.)

Samsung pro:

better design (my opinion)
thinner(so?)
cheaper
better 3D glasses (at least the new ones they gone release)
no floating blacks
no black level rise
better processing

Samsung Cons:

not as bright as panasonic
Cinema smooth bug (Supposed to be fixed in all models)
buzz (any single glass model is going to have more buzz)
higher blacklevel

Panasonic Pro:

bright picture
good blacklevel (pre-rise)
very good motion

Panasonic Cons:

not as thin as samsungs sets(so)
50 hz bug
floating blacks(unkown yet on the amount of improvement)
blacklevel rise(same as above)
design (my opinion/2011 sets look ok, but samsung is still better for me)
bad processing(2011 VT30 has a new LSI chip and the Video processing, scaling and crosstalk is supposed to be superior)

So, we have to see how the new sets will perform, but dont expect much to be fixed this year from the cons list...
