The April 2010 MSRP for TC-P65S2 was $2799 (Randy Walters), and the best reputable-vendor price for past six months has been about $1900 shipped. What's the best guess for how long it might take TC-P65ST30 (current pre-order $3000 to $3200) to have a similar drop? (Calling Madame Cleo. . .)

Also, on some of the TVs, the 'w/o stand' info. was right, but the 'with stand' info. had two of the dimensions right, and one wrong (from another TV); (or vice-versa).

Sure, it is relatively easy to see the errors, and find the right info. on any given TV; but it wasn't easy on the eyes to try to make comparisons of several TVs over three pages, because one couldn't just glance at it, and find the right info.

Anyway, the ST page looks accurate, and somewhat clearer now. The GT page still has those 'little' errors.

I understand it is a work in progress; but apparently you don't remember their Pioneer KRP sales pages on their site. Like I said, from my dealings with them, and what I've heard, they seem to be great; but, laying out a clear and accurate website just isn't a strength of theirs.

A certain little birdy wanted me to thank you for the constructive criticism. You'll also note there is now a 6% ST discount for members of AV forums

Anyone know if there is a difference in the front filter between the ST and the GT? Otherwise, I don't mind the different bezel and the loss of THX on the ST30, but anything would be better than the one on the S2.

If that's the case, this could be one amazing set. Hoping for blacks at the VT25 level or better

I think the ST is gonna be a great budget set. It shares the panel with the GT, will have 3D which means faster phosphors, which means better 2D. I dont think the S2 will hold a candle.

I'm really hoping so. I don't know how much longer my current TV is going to survive and I have my heart set on a 42 ST30. Can't wait to hear impressions.

I wonder if it is true that they will have DLNA for US? That link/brochure is in the North American section!

When the GT and ST models come out they might be hard to get a first, but will be far more discounted than 6% for everyone. These product lines are like the S2 and G25, easy to get and VERY cost effective. ( That is why we are not doing a pre-order at this point, as we want firm pricing as the markup on these will be very little. )

Don't rely on what you see in their online brochures and marketing pages. Every year there are mistakes and errors on them and it's entirely possible that that info was copy/pasted from their global site by marketing people who have no idea that European models are drastically different than North American models. Even their official press releases have contained errors that had to be corrected on subsequent press releases.

I would just wait until official hard specs are released before getting your hopes up.

how much of a discount are you getting from V. E. for spreading the word on AVS?

a 65" VT30 at cost?

if they don't give you one at cost... they should because of all the sales you must have given them.

^^^ See thats the catch with pre-orders, someone can take funds and it mean nothing. If someone wants to cancel, they can cancel with no costs, as the credit card companies would always be on the buyers side in that case. With the VT30 line being so hard to get in high number, units not coming into stock for 1-3 months, pre-order cancellations will probably be at 25%-50%. We have taken pre-orders for 5 years on all kinds of models, in the end there is never enough inventory

Oh whatever, Ive gotten a TON of PM's and Cleveland has been mentioned in plenty of them, Ive also directed folks to a certain thread, at a certain place where Cleveland has a post also.

Think what you want, I could care less.

S30 pricing is now up on the net. Looks to be a very inexpensive set, just hope they do a better job with it than my S2.

Ill be glad when test mules get out so we can see what Panny has done with gamma and other things. The S30 is it's own panel, so it should be interesting, and styling is better than the S2 also.

well it makes you wonder what your angle is.... and sure, make it look good and also mention Cleveland.

i rest my case and will no longer respond.

your welcome.

P.S. I have talked to Cleveland on the telephone in the past. And from all of his Post's on AVS... I would say Cleveland is to be trusted and is very helpful if you run into any problems.

I do not doubt Chris is helpful. He is also a site sponsor here and should always be considered. He's been very informative (to me) via PM about the new Samsung PN D8000.

I'd say the ST and GT will come out and go down, just like they usually do. I expect the VT to hold it's price very well. I bought my S2 58" for $1500, then 2 months later it was $1200.

Hi Everyone, I've been lurking for years and just joined AVS. I currently have the PZ85U coupled with the DVDO VP50 Pro and I'll be upgrading to the ST30 65 inch set. I notice that there is a big difference in PQ with and without my VP50pro...especially when it comes to cable...standard cable inparticular. Has Panasonic made headway on their VP? Will these sets of a CMS? I figure I'll keep my VP50pro and do some comparisons, and get rid of it if no improvement is noted...what are your thoughts? Or, maybe I shouldn't be putting this on this thread? If not, sorry for the intrusion. Take Care.

Is it true that the GT30 adds a second piece of glass and could this present any problems?

you mention you prefer the new GT30 over the ST30 because of THX mode in the GT..... is THX really necessary if you get it properly calibrated ?
thanks

The only differences seem to be the physical looks and THX. I'm not sure why anyone would buy a GT over an ST at this point, you'd be much better off getting the ST and paying for professional calibration with the savings.

But we don't know if a professional calibrator can actually make the ST's color gamut as good as the GT's right now. The ST/GT will not have CMS. So if "cinema" is not great out of the box, there won't be a whole heck of a lot a calibrator can do. That is what is so great about the current THX mode on the G/GT/VT is that it is excellent out of the box, just needs some tweaking.

D-Nice settings- probably the best calibration I could get on my S2 without paying him to do it, aren't perfect. You could get better calibration starting from THX.

We'll find out once the reference settings start showing up. I still think the colors are excellent on my S2, but they aren't perfect, they're much closer on the G25.
