Nothing cheap. The only Panasonic stand that will fit the 8UK is the original Pro model's TY-ST08K or the older TY-ST42PA20 from the 2003-2004 consumer models (it's the same stand but with silver accents instead of all black).

There is one universal aftermarket stand (the Premier PSD-TTS/B) that utilizes the wall mounting points on the TV and i've seen these as low as a hundred bucks.

If you're handy with building things, you could buy a cheap $30 wall mounting bracket and fabricate a base and uprights to bolt it to and make your own pedestal base.

randy,
thanks for the info. i'll need to fab a heavy base, was thinking 1/4" with a full size footprint, and then add a smaller piece on top, kinda making a stepped look, should be heavy enough. then i have some self stick felt i will put on bottom to prevent scratching the furniture, etc.

New TY-ST08K pedestal stands are on Ebay for $160-180.

I pulled an absolutely perfect TY-ST08K pedestal stand from my RIP 50PHD8UK and the bidding on ebay is right now at $50.

but the ebay item is $35 to ship. you know how much steel i can get for $85? a lot.

i'll likely just get a couple pcs of 1/4 plate, cut it to shape with my plasma (plasma is like hot knife in butter and the knife never gets cold). then i might weld a short upright using 2.5" OD 1/4" wall steel tube, and then just make a easy frame using the electrical channel so my wall mount can bolt to it. if i spend $40 for the steel and 2hrs of my time then its well worth the fab DIY.

or, i can fab the TY-ST08K..... bottom pc is 1/4" plate, short upright, then the horizontal can be 1/8" plate, then i can weld steel rod on the ends like the TY has.

i'll post pics as i fab it (whatever "it" is).

thnx

DK - sounds like you will have much more fun fabbing your own stand anyway.

Good luck. If you are in the NYC metro area you could pick up the stand for free. I have to charge $35 shipping because I want it professionally double packed. It is a heavy item and could be bent by the "throwers", (ie UPS or USPS).
