Thanks! But unfortunately those measurements belong to the tv itself and not the box. I got the measurements for the 55" over at HDJ. (Quoted from Ruppgu: "I have a 55" ST. The TV itself is approx 52"x32". The box is approx 36" x 59""). Now hopefully someone can measure their 50" box.

Anybody hear of any retailers receiving the 60ST30 yet?
I'm trying to hold out, but that new Amazon price on the 55 is hard to ignore.

Haha! Thanks Robert! You should have been just a few seconds sooner!

The only thing that confuses me is that the height of the boxes are only 1" difference but the panels are almost 3". Doesn't seem to make sense.

If you lay it flat just do screen up and be very careful. I drove mine home like that. There were circumstances where I couldn't wait for delivery and couldn't use or rent a truck. I just took me time driving really slow. No bumps. The tv didn't move the whole way and it is to date, fine (knock on wood).

In fact the first one was delivered. I saw it in the van and it was upright ("correctly") pinned diagonally between shelves on each side of the van. THAT tv had a defective fan. Kinda ironic.

Hmm looks like the ST30 is cheaper online. I guess I could always buy the 3d glasses later. Don't see any bundles right now, I'm sure they will have one the next day after I buy. Anyone know if last years panny 3d glasses work with the new models. I know the samsungs don't.
Yes the old ones work. Sammy's don't bc they are dumb. Not only did the alienate customers by switching but they went to BT. Like I dint have enough crap running on that frequency already. They think that IR glasses have link breaking issues. They clearly haven't thought of multiple wireless devices interfering with the connection.

I bought two tvs from Amazon last year and both recieved white glove service contracted by both CEVA & Pilot. Neither of my sets rode in the truck laying flat. Also, Pilot was under no obligation to provide white glove service on my 42g25 but the guy unboxed, helped me inspect, put it together and set it on the stand. He waited to see that all was well before he left. He wasn't impatient and he did an excellent job. The same is true for CEVA.

If you get bad service then it should be reported to Amazon.

FWIW- Pilot delivered my 50ST30 on Thursday, 48 hours after ordering. I had the appointment setup through Amazon when I ordered. The guy actually called me and offered to deliver it earlier in the day as he was going to be in the area, but I wasn't going to be home then.

The TV arrived in the delivery van in the proper upright position, secured to the side of the van. I inspected the box and found no sign of any mis-handling. He and I carried the box into our family room, I signed and he left. He didn't offer to help me setup and I didn't ask, as I prefer to do my unboxing in private.

One note, he was alone for the delivery, which was fine as I simply helped him carry it inside. However, I wonder what he would have done if the person who was accepting the delivery was unable to assist. He would have had a pretty hard time getting the TV inside on his own without risking some damage. In my case though, it was a non-issue.

So far the only difference I've seen is the VT25 had slightly better blacks. I've barely tweaked the setting on the ST in Cinema and I really can't see a difference in overall PQ.

The VT25, when it was not flickering, was awesome. So far the ST30 is awesome, and that's without and real tweaking.

Like I said, though, the black level was slightly better on the VT. I almost bought another VT until I found out I could get 55" ST, that uses the same panel as a 2011 VT, for LESS money than a 50" VT. no brainer.

For measurements you can go to Panasonic's website and get them. But I'll give you the horizontal measurement anyways. It's 47 and 1/4 inches wide including the frame.

I've watched Planet Earth a little bit today, and it looks really good. Life will look better, given it's a better material source.

thank you very much kind sir! Much appreciated!

Hi. Long time lurker who finally bought an HDTV. I have had the Vizio XVT47SV for about two months now. I have to say, the picture is excellent and I have had no problems so far. The settings I use have pretty much eliminated any blooming and the off angle viewing is very good. However, I am getting the itch to try a plasma. Has anyone been able to compare the Vizio with the ST30? Might I notice a diffenrence in picture quality.I do like to watch movies and sports.

The Panasonic is certainly better, but the real question is are you willing to pay the difference, are you able to return your 60 day old TV, etc.

do the 2011 ST, GT and VT all share the same panel?...or is it only the ST and GT that share the same one?

They all have the new 14G panel. However there are differences. More and more stuff has been leaking in just the past 24 hours.

ST and GT have different processing.

GT and VT have dual power supplies and different processing board setups.

GT and VT are now confirmed to have different processing.

VT has a unique filter to 2011.

ST, GT and VT all are supposed to have different black level measurements. So far this is borne out as the GT is now reported by a UK publication to have the same black level as the VT they tested last year.

I believe the HDGuru article mentioned that the ST and GT both had the Infinite Black panel from last year and only the VT had the new Infinite Black Panel 2..
