I prefer the look of the VT30 to the 8000, but I like the look of the 7000 more than the VT30

Does anyone know if the D8000/D7000 will have a 1080P/24 mode like the VT30? From what I understand cinema smooth makes the 24 fps rate possible. Any clarification would be helpful. Thanks

Somebody in the Samsung 2011 thread already posted pictures. We should get more next week. I wonder how long until the VT30 pops up also.

Here it is:

The PND7000 and PND8000 started appearing in some stores yesterday. The VT30 on the other hand isn't expected to be released until late May/Early June (give or take a week or two). The GT30 might be about a month away. Samsung really got the drop on Panasonic this year

If anyone out there has a D8000 could you test the Local Contrast Enhancer feature and tell us what it does?

Even better, if you could download this image - http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/3...4snapshot0.jpg - and display it on the TV in a completely dark room (pitch black, no lights on) and switch the Local Contrast Enhancer on/off and tell us if it affects the black level.

Thanks

They pretty much have. The only areas they are lacking in is AR filtering and input lag.

How about black levels? Historically they've been well behind Samsung and Panasonic. And they seem to have the worst IR. I spent some time with a 60" LG a few months ago at Paul's TV and aside from the reflections, i was very impressed with the PQ on that LG.

Chad measured 0.013ftL on the 50PK550 while flatpanelshd measured 0.011ftL on the 50PK950.

This is a significant improvement by LG that now has the same deep black levels as on the Panasonic plasma TVs. And that's certainly reason for excitement.

Doesn't do a whole lot of good though when the screen reflects like a mirror

The measurements for the LG's are all over the place. Chad and FlatPanels had those numbers, and Home Theater Mag had them at 0.026 and CNet registered like 0.031.

Who knows?

Does anyone know if the D8000 series plasmas come with a voucher for a set of 3d glasses and remote or if included in box? I have seen the UN D8000 series comes with either one of those. Just wondering if it is exclusive only to the LED models. Thanks!

Yes, and Samsung says cinema smooth has been fixed.

Both Samsung and Panny have claimed they have fixed their respective issues. Neither company has great credibility in this area, so we just have to wait and see.

Samsung has deeper blacks, better processing, and last year had less phosphor lag than LG. Samsung has better features with their Internet@TV/Media Player too.

Great News! I'm really looking forward to a comparison this year between the samsung pn7/8000 and the panasonic gt/vt. My 720p panny is starting to go and is in dire need of an upgrade.

I'm in a tough situation because I had a problem with my Samsung 5series plasma that couldnt be repaired and since there is no more stock of that model they are crediting me my purchase. Problem is I would like to grab a Panasonic but the VT30 is not in until Aug apparently and the D8000 samsung plasma is due april. I have to process my purchase over the next week or so and can't make a decision.

forgot to mention I'm in Canada.

When in Doubt...Go Flatout!

What size are you after and which province are you in? Also, going through BB? Within two weeks was the hopeful reply I received from my local best buy regarding new samsung models. Don't know which models sorry.
