Hi there,

I would like to replace a 50" plasma with 65" TV, preferably plasma. I've heard great things about Panasonic's TC-P65V10 and it's descendants (V20, V25, V30). However, I have no interest in 3D so I'd settle for the TC-P65V10. However, it seems like it is impossible to find anymore, being few years old, (checked ebay, amazon, gooogle/bing, audiogon/videogon)

My searches over Panasonic and other various manufacturers show nothing but 3D models these days. So, a couple of questions:
1) What other 65" screens are out there, without 3D
2) What places should I look if I wanted to find a TC-P65V10 - maybe my search-fu is not very good.

Thank you,
Daniel

The manufacturers are touting 3D nowadays, even though the vast majority of TV buyers don't want 3D. It does add performance for regular 2D viewing, but we're being forced to pay extra for the feature whether we want it or not if we want a nicer/larger TV.

For 2011, the largest non-3D Panasonic will be 60 inches (TC-P60S30). However the 3D ST30 will be available in 65" and early reports on the 50" and 55" versions seem to indicate that it has a good price-to-performance ratio. I would not buy a V10 personally, i'd get the ST30 at least.

Here's a basic chart showing the 2011 lineup:

Randy
TC-P55ST60, TC-P50GT50, TC-P46G10, TH-42PZ700U, TH-42PX50U, HP LC2600N, TiVo Series3, TWC Cisco 8742HDC DVR, Onkyo TX-SR333, URC R40 Remote.

Hi Randy, thank you for your answer.

I would like to get the unit that has 24p playback which I see is only present on the V units, but not the S units.

Is there a reason why the V10 is to be avoided?

Is there any other 65" things? like LCD? Sharp? Samsung?

The V10 was a good display, but it is now 2 years outdated; the VT25 last year and now the VT30 (not yet available) are progressively better (better blacks levels out of the box, less floating blacks, more gradual/less black level rise). Unfortunately, the best 2D plasmas also have 3D (but you don't have to watch in 3D).
