hey all,

have any of you kuro owners switched to any of the newer models from other brands, if you have please could you say the reason for switching, which tv model you have now and whether you prefer the tv to the kuro in terms of overall picture quality. i am interested in your subjective experiences whether they lean more towards the kuro's or newer models.

Why hould we buy another PDP, nothing comes close, for me to buy another PDP it would have to surpass my Kuro by leaps and bounds. From the looks of things, not happening anytime soon. Both my Kuros look like a fine piece of art on my wall, when ON or OFF.

No. Then again, I stopped binge drinking and doing drugs soon after I finished college, and for the most part have been making relatively sane decisions ever since.

The only reason would be for a bigger screen. I hate the 2.35:1 format looking so small. That was the reason that I upgraded from 42 to 50inch.

I should have gotten the 60inch.

I have a 9G Kuro. I recently grabbed a Samsung PN59D6500 for size and 3D. Obviously I will not be leaving my Kuro. For my taste nothing matches a 9G for straight picture quality.

Nope, our KRP-600M is still working fine and so is our 6070HD for that matter. Why replace?

Not yet, but I do plan on upgrading to a 3D 65"+ set once one is produced that will better my e-lited 6020. But as of now, anything I can purchase will be a downgrade in PQ, and black level, and im not downgrading just for 5" and 3D. To be honest, one of the main reasons I bought the Kuro was for the black levels, and anything less would drive me nuts.

I thought about replacing one of my 141's with a 65" VT25. The thought was very brief, however, after I started reading about rising/floating blacks and then was abolished once I went and auditioned a few in light-controlled demo-rooms.

Turns out the VT25's weren't as close as I was expecting/hoping them to be. Oh well... there's always next year... or two or three more....

Why let facts or common sense get in the way of your opinions.

Quick shot of my gear/theater.

If Pioneer was still making plasmas, HELL YEAH I would be looking to upgrade. Unfortunately, they're not and nothing else out there can compete, which is pretty damn sad considering I've had my set (141FD) since 2008. That being said, I don't plan to downgrade from my 141FD and 111FD anytime soon.

I feel the same as the above post, I wouldn't trade my 600M for nothing in the market at the present time. I would really wish Pioneer would take a second run at PDP, heck I'll take and LED from them if they're as great as my Kuro.

I have a 111FD; why would I want to trade down?

I didn't replace my 6020FD, but I did get a 46" Panasonic G25 for the bedroom. The Panny did a really nice job with DirecTV HD, and I wondered if the extra $$$ for a Kuro was worth it; but once you put a Blu-ray in, you notice the difference. I'm so happy I found it in the middle of 2010. When, in the age of flat screen T.V., could you have bought a TV in 2008 and three years later, it still can't be beat? I must say that for the price, the Panasonic is top notch. I'll get another G25 or ST30 for primarily watching Nick Jr.

I'm not a Kuro owner, but I read a review of Panasonic's new(ish) vx200 series by a guy who claimed to be a Kuro owner. He felt the vx200 was better than his Kuro overall even though it didn't best the Kuro in absolute black level.

Going from memory, I think he said there was less sub pixel noise, the best 3D capability he's seen yet, and of course much bigger.

I replaced my KRP500 with itself, by which I mean I have no thoughts of jumping to something worse anytime soon and will keep it as long as it continues to work.

I've got two 500Ms and one PRO-101, and I'm crossing my fingers that I won't need to buy a 2011 plasma to replace any Pioneer.

Ah yes, another Kuro circle jerk. Mind if I join?

Still lovin' my 5020 after all these years, but I've been reading up on the upcoming 65" Sony full array LED. Thinking about how much it's going to cost brings me back to reality LOL

I am half tempted to sell my 9G Kuro and get a bigger plasma. I will wait and see how Panny does with the FB's RB's before jumping. As it is now i have a perfect working Kuro with about 2k hours on it and no buzz and a DNice caliabration.
