I've done that before with other devices. Its easy to break, and I don't think its important at all.

It might have been just the snapping into place of the male end into the female piece. You have to push it until it clicks, otherwise it'll just fall out.

My original one was the one with the forklift tongue through the box and into the TV. My replacement was delivered and was on the wall in 10 minutes. No bubbles, no buzz (Aug. '11 build date) and no cracks, so for the time being I'm just doing the gray/black sliding right-to-left deal.

When you guys talk about running pictures on a slideshow, how do you do that? Thanks for the info...happycamperville right now.

I am very close to purchasing a pn59d7000. I have done a lot of research to come to this point. Then I found this forum. Great forum. My question to everyone is this. Has anyone seen a deteriation in the blacks or color on these panels or heard of the blacks fading or loss of saturation on colors. What is expected to happen in 5 years. Any thoughts.

When I've got the sliding gray/blacks going, should I be seeing some light vertical banding/false contouring? Because I am. It's getting dark now here so it's starting to show, but in daylight I couldn't see it.

Just watch some regular material. You don't have to "break it in ".

False contouring does not occur on a screen showing one color. What you probably are seeing is a slight condition of not perfect screen uniformity. It will fade a bit with time. You probably will not see it under viewing of normal content.

I'm not sure how everyone else does it, but I downloaded the images from this post to a USB flash drive and plugged the drive into the TV. Then I went to Smart Hub -> Photos and pressed play.

Exactly how I did it as well. I'm still running the slides every now and then overnight. I saw some slight IR from playing uncharted 3 on my PS3. Probably should have waited a little while longer before heading into gaming.

Its not even really visible so I don't want to scare anyone I can only see it if the entire screen is white and even then I have to move my head at different angles to faintly see it. I ran the slides overnight and now Its gone. The TV is only a week old btw probably only have about 100 hours on it.

I haven't seen it mentioned much on any of the last 5-10+ pages . . .

Can anyone tell me if Samsung released any firmware updates or anything that fixed the fluctuating brightness issues that were plaguing these sets when I was researching a few months ago?

I'm thinking about getting one of the 51D7000's soon and was hoping this issue would have been fixed by now.

Thanks for any replies!

Have you seen the plasma on yourself? I have the D7005 and I can´t for my life understand why it´s supposed to be such an issue. But maybe they solved it for the european model?

What is your verdict on the samsung d7000 series as it has been roughly a year of ownership. I am just curious to know.

Honestly this is my first plasma set.

I haven't seen the model myself (other than in the store) but I'd really like to purchase it considering how amazing everyone says the picture is.

However, since I watch a lot of hockey and movies the fluctuating brightness would absolutely be a deal breaker for me. That's why I'm leaning towards the GT30 although this set would be my clear-cut #1 choice if it weren't for the fluctuating brightness.

I saw an intermittent white "flash" during bright scenes with my new D7000 last night. At first I thought it was a loss of sync, but it didn't look at all like sync loss on my C8000 (which was replaced by Best Buy with the D7000 in a warranty swap because of a screen problem). It's not a big flash, but it's definitely distracting. Is this what you guys are talking about, and is it on every D7000 out there?

I have played a lot of NHL 12 and watched a lot of hockey on it and my display don´t suffer from this. SD TV but has never been able to see the FBR watching hockey. NHL 12 is really sharp and also don´t suffer from FBR. But then the white levels is kind of constant here so that is not so strange perhaps.

I have been able to see the effect by watching some arctic documentary but there is no flicker just a modest switch that is hardly a dealbreaker by any means and only occasional.

But well most complaints around these has been from PND owners not the european PS versions.

Firmware 1014.6 on its way via USB stick. Supposedly fixes the pops. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'm on 1015 now. Seems strange to go backwards for fix I've not heard of 1014.6.

I had 1014.5 installed for a few months and there was no visible difference from 1013. I now have 1015.0 and still see no visible difference. I have not yet put a meter on the TV to confirm what I see.

I suspect that the latest updates do nothing more than add more stupid apps and needless streaming connections. It's too bad that the emphasis is there and not improving display performance.

Has anyone of you openend the case of your set yet?

I know, that Panasonic doen't have any pots in its sets anymore (all the voltages are chipcontrolled), so I don't know, what the state of Samsung is.

Any information could be helpful.

I am looking into this on my D8000, there are two trimpots on the PS board (I think VS and VA) and there are also two on the Y-Scan board labeled Yrr and Yscan. A service tech replaced my PS board a month ago while troubleshooting another problem (main board) and did not adjust voltages to the label setting so I want to check first if those are where they need to be. After that I'll see if there is an headroom for mll adjustments since my panel size (51") has a higher baseline mll than the larger panels I'd like to see if there is any margin for lowering it.

Wow, this firmware stuff is very odd - they're sending out 1014.6 when 1015 is already installed on some sets?

My 59D7000 has a new bug - it turns itself on randomly. I think it did this once around Thanksgiving, but for the last few days it will only remain off for an hour or less before powering up. Just an irritation really, but it surely needs to get fixed. Still running 1013.1.

I did it through Live Chat. I told them I had fluctuating brightness issues and that there is a firmware being mailed to others to fix it. I didn't get any push back and I actually talked to two different people. Didn't have my serial # the first time to register it.
