Go to the menu and scroll down to the box with the wrench icon. Then continue to scroll to Viera Link settings and turn them off.

Sorry, I didn't notice your post before I posted a 2nd time. And no, it doesn't work. The only thing that shutting of Viera Link does, is disconnect the hardwired connections between the television and blu-ray player (the remote controls are no longer shared, and the two devices don't turn on/off with each other).

The feature you are referring to is new and only available on the 3D sets. I thought most of the content was for streaming. I doubt you will find much info on downloading content unless you contact Panasonic direct. Have you tried customer service?

You can use a hammer, but it might have unintended consequences.

Nah, not yet. I figured I'd try here first.

And Viera Market has games, streaming content, sports scores, facebook, twitter, etc...quite a few options. I find most of the offering pretty useless, but hey, maybe one day I'll want to facebook on tv?

I just figured it out... Go into VIERA CAST (rather than the TV menu) and use the MORE/BACK arrows until you get to a screen with Settings. In settings, you can choose Customize HomeScreen, which is where you can uncheck the specific apps you no longer want. You can also move apps from page to page, so that your favorites are shown first, or located in groups of your choosing.

Looks like it's not possible, which is amazing. Panasonic's help "module" on How to Remove Apps from VIERA Connect describes the procedure above, which just hides from them display. They're still in your list of apps.

The only way to remove an app from that list appears to be to reset the whole app set to the default.

No wonder everyone is hoping Apple comes out with a TV. The picture is great on the Panasonic but the UX is horrible.
