Hi all,

I hope I'm in the right forum for this.

so I'm cruising down the street the other day, and spot this Plasma TV in the trash - SWEET!

I loaded it up, and brought it home. Not to my surprise, it did not turn on. It just makes a CLICK, CLICK noise, like CLICK ON, CLICK OFF, and keeps doing it until I unplug it. It does that without even touching the power button.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Again, it just goes CLICK CLICK, CLICK CLICK, CLICK CLICK, etc... no picture, no sound, nothing.

I saw that I can buy a new power board on ebay for like $20.00. I am a techy person, so if it would just be a blown CAP, I could solder a new one on, but I didnt open it up yet to visually spot any blown CAPS. Just want to get some opinions from you guys first.

Thanks!

Not hearing meant ut the "new" power board and see if it does the trick.

Just enjoy HD in whatever form you can (Sat, Cable, D-VHS, OTA, HD DVD, or BD).

Where did he say he expected it to work? All he said was that he picked up a plasma in the trash and NOT to his surprise, it did not turn on.

Now he is looking for advice on what he thinks the issue is and how to repair it.

If you have nothing to offer, why not just skip the thread? The arrogance around here sometimes is staggering.

OP, if the board is only $20, why bother trying to replace the cap yourself? drop the $20 clammos, see if it fixes it and then go from there.

Hey Chemical Ali,

Quit being so serious! I was just joking. He picked it up from trash so obviously he has no expectation of it performing.

I am not being serious. On this forum, it is just difficult to tell who is having fun and who is being an ignorant tool bag...

I love this forum but I gotta tell ya, I would mind seeing most people that post having their teeth kicked in. In fact, I would like to take care of a few myself.

I apologize for misjudging you.

This just illustrates the fact that you can avoid a lot of confusion by judicious use of emoticons.
