Replacement panel being installed as I type this. Original panel's manufactured date was 5-11-2011. Replacement is 4-25-2011. I carefully inspected the replacement and there are no bubbles or imperfections. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

The bubble on the original went all the way to the top of the glass and was actually larger than was visible with the frame installed. Like I said, this one appears perfect. The bubble on the original was there right out of the box.

I think mine probably extends under the bezel. If I hadn't inspected super closely I wouldn't have seen it.

Karnak's panel has a peeling AR filter.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working.

Got my 64D8005 (Swedish version of D8000) the second of June, got peeling after about 60 Hours.
Build date May 2011

Was not so bad at first but now starting to grow faster and faster.

I hope Samsung Europe will take care of it and not starting to deny it

I thought I had voted before-perhaps before poll was redone. TV getting replaced Saturday due to 2 issues with peeling being one of them (source going back to TV from HDMI2 by itself the other). April build Mexico. Wall mounted. PN64D7000. Did the 100 hour slides. Would love to know how many with problems did the 100 hour slides and if having it on that long had any impact (before I did it again). Otherwise I loved this set, great picture and 3D. Just discovered I messed up, I voted March but just checked again and see it is April.

Guys that purchased the D7000/D8000 from Amazon in June, could you please inform:

1) The build date of your June purchase, and
2) If there is any peeling.

Thanks very much!

I couldn't imagine how the slides could cause it. It might have sped up the process, but can't be causing it.

^^^agreed no way the slides are the cause.. Bad adhesive is the cause. Yes it may speed up the process... But with 30 day return windows this is a good thing

Purchased my 64D7000 from Amazon the beginning of June and received it one week ago. It is May 2011 build and after about 35 to 40 hours of use I noticed the peeling on both the top left and right hand corners. I was following this thread prior to delivery so I closely inspected the television when it arrived, there was absolutely no peeling. My fear is that it will only get worse.

Once the peeling starts it is very easy to identify, you don't have to look too hard. I hope I can resolve this issue through Amazon as I waited about 7 months to purchase this TV.

Minus the peeling issue, it is a beautiful TV with stunning picture.

Thanks a lot for the input. I have been thinking about ordering the same set from Amazon. And while Amazon has a great 30-day policy, I am not sure how I would like it if I had to call Samsung after the 30-day period to explain the peeling issue and asking for a replacement. Also, based on prior Samsung plasma owner experiences, I am actually scared that the D7000's screen may CRACK and that Samsung will not honor a replacement if it does. Decisions, decisions!

I think the presumption is that the person burning in his set with the slides does so for long stretches of time but if that was the case, why would the March built sets be problem free.

If anyone has one of those infra red thermometers, it'd be interesting to see if the area where the sets begin peeling is hotter than the rest of the screen.

I've been researching this heavily as I am really close to buying either a PN51D7000 or 8000. Elsewhere I read that this issue does not seem to be happening on the 51" models. Can anyone confirm or deny?

It's interesting that it's always at the top, mostly at the corners. Has anbody reported one that is peeling near the bottom?

With regard to June built sets, could someone please let me know where you purchased them from? I'm curious to know what retailer has got the new batches as Amazon is still selling May batches (which are largely peeling).

According to the poll, only one person reported on a June built set. You can get his screen name from the poll and send him a PM.

My guess is something with the machine that's doing the application is causing the issue. And it must start or finish there.

This whole thing reminds me of the book "Disclosure" where the techies couldn't figure out what was wrong with the drives...

I have my 2nd 59d7000 with a May build. My previous march build peeled and I can't vote again. However, my may build from Vann's is peeling after only 2-3 days on the top left/center. Gonna return it and wait to see how this plays out over the next few months. From everything I have heard this set is better than the gt30 and Panny doesn't have a 60" vt30, so I am stuck.

BTW, if anybody lives in the Houston area, Doug Weil of Lion AV is going to be here on July 7th for a few days to do calibrations. I had to cancel on him because of this screen peeling so he now has an open appointment.

Demi Moore under-speced the air handlers to save a few bucks. Duh.

I guess that would be me
I bought it here in Europe (Finland) from a big retailer. Received my TV 20th June, and according to the serial number it's built in June in Hungary.
I hastily reported 'June - no peeling' but it did develop peeling after the first few days of heavy watching. The peel is in the middle of the top edge, actually two small bubbles close to each other, about 2 x 3 mm across, not yet reaching the pixel area.
The peeling doesn't seem to have spread (yet), keeping my fingers crossed, as if it stays as it is, it really doesn't bother me that much.

Do keep us updated as a couple of small spots probably wouldn't bother anyone where spreading towards the screen area would be a different matter.

Also, are you sure that its a June built? You mentioned something about the serial number. If you register your panel online with Samsung, I believe it'll give you a built date.

The serial number plate says
Manufactured in Hungary
Manufactured: June 2011

Also, there is Version No: I201

It's a PS59D7005DKXXE (European model)

The set updated immediately to 1012 firmware, if I remember correct. At least it's higher than what's on offer on Samsung website, which is 1009.1.

I've had it since 20th June now, and I don't think the peeling has spread, and no new peels haven't appeared. I did try to push the layer back with a microfiber cloth and a credit card, but that didn't seem to affect in any way.
I can really see the peeling only from the side from certain angle and if there is light coming from certain angle. It's difficult to see directly from front.
