A misfire is what was described earlier in this thread regarding the white pixel flickering for a few seconds when the set is first turned on. When adjusting the pots for better MLL, a side effect can be many pixel misfires when the set is cold, once warmed up for a few minutes they will go away. Small price to pay for much better black level in my opinion! Can't wait to dive into this in a few days.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, PrimeTime. That's good to know this is "normal" for plasmas.

I guess it's a matter of "dirty whites" with plasma vs motion issues with LCD/LED. I recently watched a HD feed of an NHL game, (Go Jets!) and really enjoyed it, and the "limited whites" scenes with mostly ice, well, it wasn't bad. I just got used to it.

I'm really liking this tv so far, it just took some getting used to coming from super bright, contrasty CRT's. Now that I think of it, if a plasma this large was as bright as a 27" CRT, it would probably be blinding!

I'm about to give this whole tweak thing a go. Hopefully I don't mess up the set. I'll be making a full video of the entire thing. Or post pictures. Depends on which is easier for me to do while I do it.

Ok...my mistake I tuned the set_up pot and the Vs pot on the plasma...those are the only 2 you need to touch...set_up pot turned clockwise all the way with no pixel missfire...and Vs pot turned counter clockwise one tick...and am very very satisfide with the results..if anyone wants pic let me know ill try to upload them

Took a stab at it. No dice. I can't seem to find anything that would turn. And I cannot fully get the back of the TV off. It stays stuck by the connections part. No idea why. As far as i can tell there is nothing to turn. I don't think this works with our set.

Take pics of what your turning. As I'm finding nothing to turn. Also. How did you get the entire back panel off? Mines stuck where the connections would be.

The Vs pot is on the main power board in the middle...there will be a cross pattern on the pot with 2 little holes...around the cross pattern there are lines for guides or markers...i used the holes to markwhere they met the lines for stock settings and notched it back counter clockwise one bar back...i used the hole that was closest to the top marker as set point....so if you count the lines itll be 3 lines from the top matched with second hole....if you look at it from stock settings the 2nd hole should be marked up to the forth line....so move that hole to the 3rd line counter clockwise....again ill post up pics as soon as i can on what i did and the after results...widscreen bluray 2:35:1 black bars blend with movies and black bezel...very very happy

I am planning to tackle this Friday night, so if you still have trouble maybe I will be able to share a tip or two if I have some luck. I am going just by what people are posting on AVS, but our sets do indeed have these adjustment pots, I can see them on the schematics of the 50pv450 manual that I downloaded in another thread. Here is the link: http://136.166.4.200/contents/Displa...50/50PV450.htm download the training manual and panel alignment PDFs to give you an idea of what needs to come apart etc.

JukeBox, did you take out the screw by the side inputs? The schematic shows a screw over there on the 50 inch set.

Sarge, so I would assume that you got better MLL using Set_Up, and even better MLL by adjusting Vs after? Just trying to confirm your method as it seems much easier than the other methods posted..........however, its also different than everything else I have read!

Hmmm, well unless sarge has some insight, I guess you could take a look at the manual I posted to see if there is a hidden screw somewhere that you might have missed. Otherwise, I will find out first hand Friday when I attempt this.............I guess it can't be too easy....

The manual helped. I didn't see to of em. Dam things hid in there perfectly. Before I start to turn anything I'm going to take another snap shot and ask what i turn and how I turn it before I do so. I really don't want to break this set. lol

I would mark the pots with a sharpie before you start so you can turn them back if need be. Also, worse case if you have a multimeter you can get it back to stock using the manual.

Ok...you will se 3 main boards the y board is the one all the way to the left there youll see white tuning pots the one closest to the middle main board will say set_up you want to turn that clockwise till you cant anymore.....thats it for that...now the middle main board there will be the Vs pot itll be the closest to the top of the board itll say Vs on it...now you want to turn that counter clockwise in line matching the last hole on the right...so 3 bars and hole should line up...thats it your done...make sure that you have calibrated it...before doing it to get the best results...

All done. Sarge was a HUGE help. I will confirm this indeed DOES make a difference in blacks. No. It isn't KURO blacks. But it's way better then it was before. Before the blacks were pretty much grey. Now, these are actually black. Just not inky. I'm taking some more pics. Will post once done.

@lifesun.....sorry for getting back to you so late...was helping jukebox360 out...but yes the mll is a big difference now since i only adjusted those 2 pots...the reason i went with the Vs instead is that i felt the voltage had to do somthing with the black lvls...i adjusted the set_dwn and noticed pixel miss fire and bleeding so i adjusted it back to stock value and adjusted the set_up pot clockwise and noticed the black levels getting deeper and no pixel flares or bleeding at all...and left the pot as is...now for the Vs it was hard at first cause when you turned it clockwise all the way the set would shut off....turned it all the way counter clockwise it would get darker but would show scanning artifacts like it was going to bleed thru...so i went back to stock settings and did a micro adjustment counter clockwise and found the sweet spot i could go deeper like 1 more line in but am happy with where im at...i will post up the pics of the pot settings later tonight with the calibration settings also...just installed avs app on phone but have a job to do right now...reballing an xbox 360
