First, have to say that right now I'm still trying to take in all the awesome from my TV. I upgraded from a Toshiba 37" LCD (720p) so to go to the 50PV450 was... just, wow.
I dislike the glare, and I need to tint a few windows to help reduce this problem, but after about 6pm it's just perfect
So now for my few questions...
1) I have never seen 24p outside of the samples in the stores, so I was really excited to try that at home... But I'm confused about a few things, hoping that I still have true 24p.
Right now, I'm using the following set-up:
PS3 --> Pioneer VSX-819H K --> My TV via HDMI (naturally)
My 24hz is set to Auto on the PS3
When I hit "Info" on the TV, it shows 1080p/24p
HOWEVER, the "Film Mode" setting is greyed out, and I can't do anything to turn it on. I was ASSUMING that it was what turned on 24p.
That said, I THINK 24p is working, the panning does look sort of smooth, and things look a little more crisp, I THINK. I'm not the best at figuring this out..
I'd appreciate any help
2) Also, my wife has told me that she officially hates the stretch mode when watching 4:3. Since we have kids and are watching tons of classic shows, they're all in 4:3. I was a little disappointed that there weren't better zoom settings in the menus to try and eliminate the bars. When I force it to 4:3, it just puts grey bars on the side and squishes the picture. It's through XBMC on my Apple TV, so maybe it's something weird there...
3) Also, I'm currently watching MvA, but will be watching other movies that have the slight black bars on the top and bottom, which of course leave some IR.
Should I just deal with Zoom modes until the 100-200 hours pass? That's so far the biggest frustration I have with Plasma versus LCD...
Thanks for listening, and sorry for my ramblings
