i dont think there are a lot of complaints for whatever reason, but i had 2 and they both did it, otherwise i would of kept it.

IF I have zero interest in 3D or any internet capabilities, would there be any benefit to skip the PV450 and get a PZ550? I tried a search to see if there was a difference in panels but came up empty. I am not worried about any "tru-black" filters or such, as I will be doing the POT tweeks after break in anyways.

After breakin it looks lik black noir's settings are the way to go. I got to page 6 of this thread and couldn't find any break in settings.

Everyone happy with the 60" LG PV 450??? Thanks!!

same boat here. Anyone?

Has anyone loaded up a pure white image (or the white wash pattern) and noticed that it's not exactly the same white color across the entire panel on their 60pv450? I see some locations look slightly warmer then others. I know it's difficult to have perfect cell uniformity but I'm curious what your's is like.

UPDATE: Ooops, forgot. I may be going out of town for a while next Tuesday. So I probably will not have a speedy report of my experience with the Antec Halo.

The Antec Halo is not very bright but that's what I wanted. Definitely worth a try. Unfortunately for me, the dark wood wainscoting behind the TV makes any kind of bias lighting useless. It really needs a a light colored rear wall. But it might work better for you.

You make a great point regarding the color of the wall. I am using a 30cm SMD 5050 strip with 15 LEDs (cheap ebay purchase from China) that is very bright if you look directly at it, but reflects off of a wall that is painted a very very light beige (more like pale skin color). The reflection is not beige in any way though. More like a bright white with very little hint of blue.

I haven't seen the 50PV450 in person but reading about it online has got me very interested. I want to know if the bezel around the screen is shiny/glossy black or is it a matte charcoal color? Some pictures I have found on the internet have it shiny and others have it being almost like a gunmetal finish. LG website has the gunmetal look. Thanks

I am not sure what your budget is but Dell still has this deal going on - you can get the 60 inch pv250 for 699.99 plus tax. This is actually a slightly newer version of the 60pv450. Here is the link:

Local tech coming out to look at color flickering problem under LG warranty on Monday. I'll have plenty of content on the DVR to reproduce. If he can't resolve easily, it will be going back to the store. Hopefully he has a magic firmware update, but I doubt it.

Update: They are closed Monday (thanks for the wrong date LG). The tech will research and contact LG before ordering any parts. I will update when I have more info.

I went to sears yesterday and they had the 50pv450 on display beside the panasonic 50st30 and I was not impressed at all with the LG set. The black levels on the panasonic looked black while on the lg they look grey. Can the black levels look better with adjustment?

I just received my 60pv250 (essentially the same as the 60pv450 - some say its a newer model) from the Dell deal (699.00 - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1380350 ). I was actually pleasantly surprised at the black levels out of the box. For 699, this plasma is a steal.... The build date on mine is Sep 2011. Also I was noticing the flickering issue but once I turned off the energy saving mode it cleared right up - no flickering issues at all... so far. Given the issues that samsung and panasonic owners are going through on plasmas that cost 3 to 4 times as much, I was prepared to deal with some issues on the LG. So far so good.

OK this is not great, but I came home today from work and haven't used the TV in 36 hours. I'm told no one else has either but my 50PV450 clicks but does not power up. Then clicks again to the power off position after failure. I've bypassed the monster power conditioner and gone direct to the plug but same problem. What could it be? Time to call LG?

Only other thing recently has been a new IR multi remote. Day before Christmas and no TV I'm not thrilled.

A bit of an update. After speaking with LG we think it's a Power Supply issue (no surprise) and a repair visit is scheduled. Apparently this has been happening quite a bit because of all the bad storms probably and we haven't been immune. I can't honestly remember whether the TV was unplugged during outages but you don't want it plugged when it comes back on. I'm sure thats happened here. A cable to my Monster Powercenter seemed a little loose also but the TV hadn't flickered or shut down previously. I'm soooo disappointed because the programming this week and my time off I was looking forward to. What a downer for the holidays.

I thought the same thing in the store, but gave it a shot and it looks 100% better in a home setting. It is in my family room with a couple windows and the glare is not a show stopper. The stand seems to tilt the screen up a bit, probably to help with glare from lamps and other light sources at viewer level. The fluorescent lights at the store didn't help either.

I'm hoping some of you guys can give me a little info about the LG 50PV450... I bought a 47 LG LCD for my parents, but it has flash lighting and is being returned. Now I'm contemplating on trying another of the same or a different TV all together. One of of the other TVs that I was looking at is the LG 50PV450. I went with the LCD for two main reasons, glare and burn in...

I have read this entire thread and there's not much talk about glare. Is it really not that bad or do you guys just deal? A lot of the reviews on amazon do mention glare and some say it is really bad. I hate glare on a TV.

Burn in, or image retention as I've seen it called here... My parents don't play video games, but I don't want to give them a TV they have to constantly be thinking about. Is it really something to worry about it?

Thanks

Search on my name. I have mentioned a few times about glare but then I have the 60pv450...

anyone with a 50pv400 can you post some pics of your set. Curious if it looks any different than the 450. Thanks.

not sure if anyone else has seen the list of items to buy in 2012 from Consumer Reports but the Panasonic TC-P50S30 is 1 and the LG 50PV450 is 2 on the list of 50" HDTV's.

im thinking of picking up the 60" version today at sears when they open and i had one question i've not really seen answered. Does this tv do the smoothing/adding frames that 120hz led's are starting to do? so it looks like video or like your looking thru a window? is the 600hz sub field driving the same thing? im asking because i really dont like that effect

You can get the 60pv250 (same as the 60pv450 but USB port is service only) from dell small businees for 799.99 shipped. Mine arrived last week abd it is a great plasma for the price. Plasmas do not have the "soap opera" affect that LED/LCDs do. Go check out the pv450 at Sears and if you like it, consider the Dell deal.

yeah i'd heard about the dell thing, sears though is doing 18 months no financing if you have a sears card. i think i'll have a easier time swinging the payments over 18 months and with my dad in town it will be easier to take my old 42" lcd to my parents to set up for them to use. im 99% sold on getting the tv. i was just worried about the soap opera thing, its whats pushing me away from 120hz leds. on some stuff it is cool, but ugh. other stuff its so fake.

i know its more expensive this way, but in my mind its only 100$ more than what i paid for my lcd like 3-4 years ago, so an upgrade of almost 18" is worth that, i just hope its not too monsterous for my living room.

Can anyone tell me the general area that the power cord is in the back? I only ask because I will need to move my recessed outlet depending on where it is, and because of that, I might need to buy longer HDMI cables to run inwall

well sears was out of stock. =(
guy said he could do a order for instore delivery. i really don't feel like waiting for 7 days, when today is the day i have help to move stuff around. bleh.

edit: i think i may go back up there and do the store delivery. 7 days isn't that long and for this price and 18 months for a decent plasma is hard to pass up. i really dont want to buy a lcd later down the road
