I have a 43 inch Pioneer Elite that was moved two years ago to the basement to make room for 50 inch Elite(111) in the family room. I sit approximately 10/11 feet away. I now want to replace the 36 inch Mitsubishi(CRT) in the bedroom. I can't decide whether to move the 50 into bedroom and get 60/65 for family room, or just buy a 55 or greater for the bedroom. I love the Elite, which was calibrated by urm from these forums, but the prices on some of these larger plasmas just keep dropping to the point of "making me an offer I can't refuse."

I don't need anything with all the "bells and whistles" for the bedroom, so I could get away cheap with a 55 plus, but the idea of a larger screen does appeal to me in the family room. At the time I bought the 50 inch Elite, the 60 inch was almost double the money. I guess the bottom line is would I be that disappointed without an Elite as my main TV?

Here's obvious and very expensive solution:
Move Pioneer Elite 111 to the bedroom.
Get Elite PRO-70X5FD to replace it.

At that distance you really need to be looking at 60" to 70" screen size to get the impact of movies. IMO

I think he should keep in mind the off screen viewing issue of the Sharp Elite, even if it's better than other LCDs. He did mention a family room. It will depend on the positioning of the furniture also.

I started this thread almost a year ago and didn't pull the trigger on a new set. I'm now back and would like some input. The prices on the 60 inch plasmas are calling to me. Any thoughts from you guys? I was going to get a cheap 50 inch for the bedroom, but these prices on a 60....Thanks for any thoughts

I was in the same situation

I moved my Pioneer 500m to the bedroom and bought a 65" VT50. I couldn't be happier and now I am actually excited to go to bed
