I just performed some tweaks on my 50pj550. My results are lower black levels, but there seams to be a little motion blur during fast action sports now. Almost looks like an lcd in that regard now. Rather then combing through the whole thread, can anyone tell me what might be causing this? Here's what i adjusted:

Vy - fully counter clockwise
Set up - fully clockwise
Set down - 3/4 clockwise

I fiddled with Vsc, but put it back to default. Did not touch Vzb. Va and Vs were verified to default values written on panel so I left them alone.

Thanks

Hi, I tweaked my PK250 in the early days of this trick, and got 0.045 cd/m2, far better than the stock 0.14, but now I would want to push it a bit further. But I would want to start from scratch, returning the pots to their original positions. I can't find the service manual for this model to see the voltages. Does someone know where to get it? And another question: the method to do the adjustments is still the one Turrican4D posted in the first page? Or in these years some new "standardized" method has arised?

Thanks

I know one person has done this tweak on the 50PM970S. Probably it is possible also on the latest models, but I have not read about it at the moment.

I'll let you know after Thursday, May 8th. That's when I'll have a new 60PB6600 LG plasma and one of the first things I will do is to take off the back and see what adjustment dials there are. I still have my 50PK540 and I did the black level fix on it a couple of years ago and it still looks good. Looking forward to my new set though.

I did the Pot tweak for my 2014 LG 60PB6600 yesterday and I have to saw wow!
It made a VERY noticeable difference in the depth of my blacks. I don't have a means to measure MLL, but I can say that it now beats out my Samsung PN60F5300 and comes close to my Panasonic TC-P50UT50 based on what my eyes can see.

I recommend doing it if you aren't afraid of taking off the back of the tv!

Ok - I have a question and I'll explain my situation..

I just got a LG 60" 60PB6650 2 days ago. After reading every post in this thread the past 2 weeks a few times, i decided to give this a shot. I have a 50" 720p Samsung with insane blacks and i was hoping to get at least that.

So I got the TV on Tues night. My dilemma is this - i live alone and this TV is going to be wall mounted with the bottom about 5 feet off the ground. It's the existing mount for my 50" Samsung I'm switching from. Why am i switching? I don't know. I wanted to get a smart TV and see if the 1080p LG was better. Who knows...

My window for getting help putting the TV on the wall was one day... today. So i decided to not turn the TV on out of the box - go straight to taking the back off, then putting on the stand... then turning it on. I watched it and did the color, etc settings for a few hours and then decided to do the tweaking. I had no mirror - all i could do is turn the pot turns and run around the TV.

Here's what i did then i'll ask the question.

I went full turn clockwise on Set_up

Set_dn I went clockwise only about 1mm - barely at all.

Vy I went counterclockwise from 5 o'clock (start) to 2 o'clock. ....so 1/4 turn

and VzB i went from 8:00 start position to about 9:45 - 10:00. so not much again. This is the one that had insane noise when i went to full turn clockwise... and i had it at 11 o'clock but turned it down last minute

So i turned down the set_down and the VzB before i put the back back on and got help mounting it on the wall knowing it would probably have to sit there on the wall for a really long time and the less chance I had of problems, the better.

The blacks were noticeably better going Set_Up - it hit about 3/4 turn and looked the same from then on.

I couldn't notice any change in Set_dn or Vy or VzB. I just did minor changes in them because i hoped I'd get lucky.

So my question is this... i notice that when i watch animated shows (Family Guy, Adult Swim stuff) that the screen gets flat compared to other scenes in the same show. It happens sporadically and i confirm it's happening because i hit "info" on direcTv that brings up the black bar at the top with the show's info - and the same paused picture gets vibrant again when i hit info... then back to dull and flat (not vibrant) when i exit the info on the screen. It also happens in 50% of all commercials. I don't notice it in TV shows that aren't animated yet.

Unfortunately, i don't remember if this was the case before the pot turns. So - does anyone have any idea if one of the things i moved could cause this? I can see it shift from dull to vibrant as i watch the show and it happens when scenes change... even in commercials - it changes only in certain parts or scenes of the commercial sometimes.

If it's not a pot - any idea of an LG setting that can be causing this? I am using the expert setting with all the similar settings listed here. ..and i've tried turning on and off practically everything to see if it'll fix the dull scenes from appearing. The only thing i think i notice is in the dull scenes - there's nothing vibrant in the scene - it seems like if there's a vibrant part of a scene - like a blue ball or something with a lot of color - it'll make the scene be vibrant. If it's an earthy toned scene - more likely to be dull and flat... Hopefully dull and flat makes sense.. less contrast... less vibrant colors... less bright. Like in Family Guy - the scenes in the house tend to be dull. Weird i know.

So any help would be great - or questions if you have them. ....oh and no pixels misfires or noise - although i REALLY wish i'd watched this for a week before i did this to compare better.

- side note - and i'm not sure if it was the commercial or not - but white letters zooming in from the left to the middle of the screen on a light blue background... insane ghosting. It's the first ghosting i've seen and it may have been the commerial on purpose but i doubt it. Actually i don't know - it's the only time i've seen it in a day and it may have been on purpose. It looked stupid so i hope it wasn't on purpose.

I know the VzB is for image pop - and too much causes noise. I don't know what Vy and Set_ Down really do other than lower the MLL a little more.

Thanks in advance - sorry if confusing! The main question is the dull scenes and and thoughts or ideas concerning the cause... ghosting is extra credit.... and explaining the Vy and Set_ Down is extra extra credit i guess

Hello, everybody!

I'm trying to figure out what TV to buy on a tight budget (less than 800€). I want a plasma, and the two I have been thinking about are the Panasonic TX-P50X60 (only 720p) for about 400€, and the full HD Samsung PS51F5000 (I live in Sweden and here it's called F5005) for about 570€. But now I've gotten interested in the 2014 LG plasma lineup, since I can get a 60" PB560V (PB5600) for about 600-700€.

Is the panel the same on the PB5600, PB6600 and PB6900, except that the 6900 has 3D?

Also, is there really a difference between the international versions and the European versions when it comes to the poti tuning?
If I can get the LG PB560V's black-level to go as low as the Samsung F5000, I guess the right choice would be the LG?

Do the LG TVs have a function for making 50Hz refresh rate TV-broadcasts show as 100Hz?
