If you were thinking about getting VT 50, what type of frame would you prefer?

Black. Thin. They should really offer both options.

A silver bezel detracts from the viewing experience in a dark room! I would pay extra for a dark bezel of some type.

It is amazing that Panny goes to great lengths to improve the performance of these sets and then adds the silver bezel. One could argue the aesthetics of the silver bezel, and whether it will increase sales. There is no argument about performance however- black is simply best.

I like the bias built into the poll by not including an option for people who like the way it is.

WOW - JUST WOW - did you read the very first option? I can't tell if you are incapable of comprehension or just trolling.

I won't say the silver strip is cheap or cheesy looking, but I just don't like it. Why Panasonic would choose ANY strip in the first place is beyond me, it's simply not necessary at all... very poor choice from a functional point of view. Same goes for that silver stand, though I'll take that over the strip any day.

I'd even prefer a frame like other brands low end plasmas have... squared off and glossy plastic.. over this one. They should've just done it similar to the Kuro Elites and be done with it.

OK, I'll say it then.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working.

The voting is not fair and the described options have bias: you don't have the option VT50 is actually offering: the black glass bezel with thin silver accent.

Dark aluminum would looks pretty cool, thin doesn't hurt.

It is true - the options offered do show a bias - so I won't vote.

That said I actually don't like the silver surround on my new 55VT30 (the 55LE8500 it replaced was much more classy - but suffered from banding) - and I probably wouldn't like look of the 55VT50 bezel either.

I like the black bezel and narrow, silver trim on the GT30. Here, it is a nice but discreet accent. Haven't gotten a good look yet at the upcoming GT50/VT50.

The best way to solve the probblem would be to have NO bezel.

The OP should have a mod correct the misleading wording - the issue is with the metallic trim surrounding the TV, not the bezel. The actual "bezel" is black and pretty much hidden under the front glass and only becomes apparent once the TV is turned on, revealing the black bezel below the front glass.

This is what happens when so many Panny fans complain about how the Samsungs always look better than the Panasonics - they start looking more and more like the Samsungs

Personally i don't mind the metallic surround as it looks in the renderings. I've spent a lot of time in a darkened Magnolia showroom looking at the GT30 and VT30 and their silver surrounds aren't distracting to me, probably since i'm focused on the image on the screen. I wonder if the surround on the VT50 is going to be matte metallic or shiny like chrome?

You cannot change a poll question but if a moderator would like to change the word bezel to frame I would appreciate it or you can close this poll and we can change the wording.

For those of you who believe this poll is too biased - perhaps we can come up with wording that everyone agrees is objective.

Feel free to post what you'd prefer and I'll start a new thread. I consider the frame part of the bezel but I certainly could understand if others do not.

These pictures look gorgeous. This is the best plasma TV design I've seen.

I am pretty sure the silver trim is brushed matte aluminum, not chrome. I just wish stand would be swivel.

It is not brushed matte aluminum. It is shiny "chrome-like" material. Whether it's specifically chrome, I cannot say.

What I can say is that dozens of us have seen and touched it and it is absolutely not brushed matte aluminum. If it were, probably none of us would be carping about it.

Oh damn! Panasonic almost got it! Finally making a sophisticated looking TV but made one major design flaw, the silver-edged bezel. What were they thinking? Why don't they just make it look like the Kuro and be done with it, thus decreasing the cost to make it? I read that in Asia, particularly in Japan, silver or chrome is very appealing. To them it looks hi-tech and expensive. So forget function, mass market appeal trumps it.

Hopefully, they'll do away with this silver edge in the US version or at least make it a black/dark stainless steel or brushed aluminum. It looks like they will have a better looking remote but no 3D glasses which is a bummer and I think the stand doesn't swivel. Well they got cheap on other things to bring us better looks and Kuro-black picture.

Here's a decent shot of the Bezel accent in action. It appears to have some reflections from all the crazy lights around.

It seems distracting to say the least... looks like the designers were trying to make it into the pages "Moden Home Decor" magazine more than anything else.

That photo is very accurate. In your home, you might have fewer lights but you'll see them in a similar manner.

OK. Hate the silver bezel. But "otherwise" got it right. You mean the shiny black bezel part? Just like the VT30? It's OK now. But wasn't before?

You mean make it like the Kuro bezel? A gigantic thick black shiny bezel? BIGGER than the VT30's black shiny bezel? That black shiny bezel was ugly with the VT30, but wouldn't be now.

Bezel people, you guys are funny! All OVER the place. LOL!
