It doesn't matter with the GT50 since it has a 96hz mode.

Not true - only the VT50 has 96Hz.

Well as it stands it seems I can't use the media player feature for most file types anyways, since it won't recognize so many common files. But as I've said, when I used my blu-ray player to output the mkv at 60Hz the motion was fine. It's obvious the tv is adding some motion smoothing when it is doing the converting.

Hey all, just got my new 60ST50 hooked up and am pretty pleased. I do have a question, everywhere online as well as the box says that it has Pandora on it but for the life of me I cannot find it in the Viera Link. There are 3 pages of things but none of them is Pandora. Can anyone help?

You have to download it from the Viera Market.
Internet -> Viera Market -> Music

Finally am able to enjoy my new 55st50. Extremely impressed so far. I'm coming from a 2010 46" sharp LCD, I think it is plenty bright and I am using c-nets settings. However I turned the color warmth down. I have it set to normal. Even the wife was very impressed and she is as far from a videophile as anyone could be, not that I am a videophile by any means.

I watched a little bit of everything today. As you can see below hockey was part of my viewing. I noticed some "flicker" while watching the flyers game live, but not during highlights and I tested my Pens Stanley cup DVD and didn't notice anything. Interesting....

For those that requested here are some pics. I have it connected to a Panasonic Blu ray, cable box, Xbox 360, and an old Sony 5.1 receiver. Will be replacing the receiver this summer with a Yamaha 673 and the energy 5.1 speakers.

Can anyone comment on how much their set buzzes? Anytime there is a lighter color on the screen I can clearly hear buzzing. Debating exchanging it for another one.

No need to be hesitant. It's one of the best performing TVs on the market for gaming. 16ms input lag time.

I received the exact same horrible service from them as you did. After ordering I got an email from someone at Abe's so-called "Panasonic HD Team" advising me to call them ASAP. I knew it was just a pushy salesman that lured me to call them so he could pitch the extended warranty down my throat. He tried several shady sales tactics until I told him that I was buying the warranty through Panasonic. He already lied and said they only offered 90 days labor and I had to carry in the TV. Panasonic said they have a one year P&L with in-home service for my size of TV.

My tracking information never updated past the first day showing it was being shipped from NY to my state. After 10 days I called the trucking company and asked why the tracking had not been updated and he wasn't helpful. Afterwards I called Abe's and spoke to a very rude guy who claimed to be the CS manager. After I threatened to cancel the whole deal he apologized and took care of things and now they are delivering it tomorrow morning, plus he gave me an extra $100 restaurant gift card to use. I'm not at all pleased with their customer service and after this TV delivery I won't be dealing with them either.
I have absolutely no idea how Abe's managed to get such great ratings on Resellerratings.com?

Great stuff, thanks for posting. I was planning on calling them (Abe's) today. I was too busy yesterday and now I am glad I waited. I will call and see if I can force a rush like you did. I don't really care about the gift certificate, just want my 50st50 sitting in my living room. I do actually use restaurants.com often though, usually paying $4-7 for a $20 gift certificate. $100 would last a long time doing that!

My 60" buzzes. I can definitely hear it from 10 feet away when the volume is low. I'm not sure if I can hear it at normal volume levels. Also, I think I'm trying to listen for it, rather than try and enjoy my programming.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Not that you can tell much from a pic, but the contrast from that repeorter to the ice looks promising.

As a side not We now have the same TV and the same Lenovo Y550 laptop if I'm seeing that right. Mine is in much worse condition due to kids and was setup as the HTPC before I got my BDP320 Blu-Ray player, we have two other laptops (Dell 6600 and Asus G74) for regular use.

.

I saw the same flicker on that game on my st50. But I went in the other room and turned on my old CRT TV and tuned into the standard definition channel of the same network and saw the exact same flickering on that TV. So my conclusion is that it is the source not the st50 causing this when the arena strobe lights go off.

I noticed buzzing on mine only when i had a pure white screen and no sound on. This buzzing was noticable from approximately 8 feet or so. I did not notice buzzing at any other moment at all. I didn't test different volume levels, but i was playing around with a few things right next to the screen while the hockey game was on and didn't hear buzzing over the volume. hope this helps.

I have played call of duty, NHL12 and MLB2k12 and have not had any issues. I am very aware of input lag. I took back TVs in the past due to input lag. I haven't noticed even a hint of discernable lag. However, i haven't played any extremely fast moving games that require strict precision such as fighting or instrument games. I put in a solid 2 or 3 hours session and didn't notice any kind of image retention issues either. I'd highly recommend for gaming.

+1

I have an addiction to streaming devices. Logitech Squeezebox, Roku, Google TV, WD TV are all somewhere in my house. The WD HDTV Live+ has played everything I've thrown at it, and with a nice interface (and android remote control). Highly recommended for local files.

Same TV, but different laptop. I am using a macbook pro. My blu ray is the 220. I can't wait to get a new receiver. My current one doesn't even have a component video input. Just s-video, good old college days. At least it has an optical input for audio. My xbox360 also only has component output, no HDMI. So i'm excited to use the receiver to do a little upscaling.

As for the pics, they were taken with an iphone, so not the best quality. But i think the big take from them is that there is really no glare coming off the screen at all. My basement has 6 recessed lights lighting that room and there isn't any glare. Also, with that much lighting turned all the way up on the dimmer, the picture quality was very good. good blacks, good brightness, etc. I had concerns coming from an LCD, but so far i couldn't be happier.

thanks for replies. what about phosphor trailing and something called "floating blacks" that my friend complained about with his older gt25. also do you guys use the same of different video settings for gaming than you do movies and tv shows?

From the side the black and white scheme looked just like the Lenovo. I even see an orange strip around the screen, but now I see that's juts a reflection of the couch on the silver bezel.

http://www.priceit.in/wp-content/upl...Pad-Y55011.jpg

I just bought a cheap Denon 1312 a few months back because my reciever was on the fritz and I needed a replacement pronto. Well now I'm regretting that as it has a small fraction of the output of my ancient HK AVR65 it replaced, and my Snell speakers need more power to sound right. Now I'm hooking the AVR 65 back up and just not routing video through at least until I get an Onkyo 809 Denon 3312 or similar quality model to what I'm replacing. I also have an old XBox 360 with composite, but plan on just using the TV input and stereo sound from the TOS-Link.

My new 55" also buzzes significantly. The buzz varies and is proportionate to the brightness level on screen and can be heard from 10+ feet away over low-mid volume content.

It's a deal breaker for me, but I'm not sure if I should take my chances and re-order from Amazon or look for an alternative. (Others have suggested contacting Panasonic for possible quick fix...) I'm wondering what percentage of ST50s suffer from this?

For reference, I've aged the panel 100+ hours and calibrated per DNICE's suggested settings.

Yea. I've run the slides. I read on hdj someone's buzz diminished after running the slides.

My panel is pretty uniform. So, I don't want to run the risk of getting a visually ununiformed panel

Here's a Panasonic servicing report...

I posted previously about my new 60ST50 developing a two or three inch vertical bar near the left side of the screen. I called Panasonic last Wednesday. It was pretty easy to get an actual human to talk to.

They sent a service guy out yesterday to haul the set to the TV hospital. He said what they often do in a situation like this is replace the actual panel, rather than do a TV swap. Anyhow he claimed that they would have the panel in today and have the set back by Friday but....

...they called me up this a.m and said the problem was a loose connection between some of the electronics and the panel. Once this connection was secured the set worked. They brought it back about an hour ago and now the finger prints are Windexed away (rep said Windex is okay as the surface is glass).

Obviously this was a simple fix but the Panasonic problem resolution system was efficient and that's an important part of the big picture. This is very much in contrast to a problem that I had with a Zenith branded LG plasma from the distant past. That issue took around three months and in the end I ended up with a Panasonic 50px60u, which is now on its third owner.

The only question I would have is why they couldn't diagnose/fix on site.

My parents received a DOA LG LCD from amazon and the LG repair tech came to the house with all the necessary parts, dismantled the TV onsite and swapped out the whole panel. 45 minutes from start to end.

That's not to say your experience was bad or anything, it just would have been nicer if they could have fixed that connection at your house and not had to take the TV away at all.
