Who is everyone starting to ignore? If I had to guess I'd assume the end of their name rhymes with Date?

Why is it capitalized, also can you answer my question on sharpness?

What question.

Also, it's capitalized because my eyes told me it looked right.

I asked if I can use this test to set sharpness. Go to sharpness, if I link it directly it has issues.

What's wrong with the patterns on the AVS 709?

I found the LCD test at least gave me something to aim for, by reaching a setting where the picture blended together. The AVS 709 test just told me to set sharpness somewhere high enough that colors didn't seem to blur together, but low enough that edges didn't produce a white halo effect. However, I was able to get all the way to 100 sharpness in Custom with out running into any white outlines.

Never mind, I don't know what I was doing when I set this in the first place. I can definitely see over sharpening occur after 35 now on Custom, which, (ironically?) is what I reached with the LCD pattern. For game mode I got 40 sharpness, which is close to the 45 I reached with the LCD pattern.

I did, I don't recall if they covered sharpness or not.

Edit: They show the pattern, but don't really discuss anything related to sharpness.

It's been a long time since I used it. A couple of years ago I had an LG LCD and several of us calibrated our tvs for the first time using the AVS 709. Those with more experience helped us out and encouraged us. We spent many nights working on it. It's hard to stop and eventually you find yourself wanting a meter....

I picked up a WOW disk when I bought this tv, with every intention of giving it a whirl- I haven't opened it. I love my tv, so far I've been so satisfied that I haven't felt compelled to perform a calibration, or to pay for one. However, I will be getting it professionally calibrated sometime this year. IMO, she is very much worth it.

And tomorrow it might be 70 again? That's what I'm talking about with your entire eye debacle lol

So I set it a little too high the first time, sue me. I know you believe that anything above zero is too high, but that's not necessarily correct. I love the eye comments, you actually insinuated earlier that I did it wrong by setting sharpness by eye! What the hell am I supposed to set it by, a robot, a sharpness meter? Don't be ridiculous.

Did I specify that sharpness was your eye issue? "Don't be ridiculous." That's interesting that you "know" I find anything over zero incorrect. Do you know my favorite color and number as well?

Anything over zero sharpness was my assumption, but go ahead, enlighten me as to your ideal sharpness setting for game mode.

I won't go into further detail on the eye subject, further discussion is wasted on you.

Simply put, for whatever reason, I don't think you're capable of grasping the concept I was originally proposing. But if you're so inclined, I'll try my best. wink.gif
