Thanks for posting your calibration comments. I've added a link to your post in the flat panel (post number two) lists that are linked in the signature area at the bottom of my post.

If you have further comments to make about your audio or video calibration, it would be great if you could use the edit command to add them to your original post. Enjoy. smile.gif

Looked good, I just preferred the power law roughly 2.27 gamma power curve he had done previously as a night mode. Since I used it all the time and not the day mode, this go around he did "Day" mode and "Night" mode as basically the same cal, one being for 96hz input and the other being for 60hz input.

Day mode is what Ill use most of the time, 60hz, and Night mode will be for 24p blu-ray. The difference between each hz input is only 2-3 delta E, but since he always does two modes I figured calibrating them both to the same gamma I liked and tweaked for a specific frame rate was a smart move.

The other difference is, with basically the same settings 96hz is roughly 36fL and 60hz is roughly 38fL. As expected, PQ is outstanding and Chad is always an informative professional.

I'll really have to pick Chad's brain when he comes next month for my re-calibration (on the replacement panel). Seems like there has been a lot of experimenting with gamma since he came out last year. I'm amazed how how good THX Cinema looks with a better panel. I think overall my original panel just had really inconsistent color due to the VSUS issues.

THX Cinema was cal'd on mine, and it looks good, its just a little too dim for me. I think its around 32 or 33 fl on my set.

Yes, that's pretty standard, just ISF Day and ISF Night. Doing a THX calibration is going above and beyond. I'd keep my THX as is.

Does anyone know how to get home theater audio thru this TV using Netflix? I see no area to use external speakers or switch off the main speakers.

HDMI2 is for ARC, to send digital audio from VT50 to AVR via HDMI. Connect your AVR's HDMI output (i.e. input as well) where ARC is supported to HDMI2 of the VT50 (where ARC is also supported). Check your AVR's manual for how to enable and use ARC (audio return channel) for handling audio from TV.

As far as turning off TV speakers, All settings -> Audio -> Advanced audio -> TV Speakers -> ON/OFF

Other problem with THX mode on the VT50, at least on mine, its too dim for me. Maybe as a night mode. The ISFcc modes are cool because they are locked and cannot be messed with. You also get a Controlcal file, so if your display was to ever get "reset" or something crazy, you can reload the exact calibration with controlcal.

Once I decided BT 1886 wasnt for me, I just fired up controlcal and reloaded my previous night mode cal chad had done. Easy peasy.

No dim issues with me on THX Cinema. And I'm very familiar with ControlCal. Great software! Looking forward to my third calibration in less than 2 years smile.gif

My THX was around 30fl IIRC, not sure why but its too dim. Im a fan of 37 or 38fl's for lights on watching.

The THX mode on my GT30 was brighter.

After 3 years with U50 to problems to report. TV runs excellent and performance is superb! Better picture than friends GT50. This is the best TV I ever owned and would recommend to anyone. To think I only paid $649 three years ago with 3 year warranty.

Never needed to calibrate or tweak, hard to figure out so many on this forum making rocket science out of a TV set. Panasonic TV's are great out of the box. Plug in and play!

Its like buying a Porsche and not taking it to the track every now and then. These tv's are nice from the get go, but they were made to be calibrated. If you think they look good out of the box you should see one properly calibrated.

hello everyone, I bought a VT60 floor model 60 inch for 1500, has less than 300 hours. but when I put a white screen up at the bottom right I can see a faint LG logo. Ran the flipper over night and I " think " it helped. before on red screens I could see it but now I really have to look.

4 questions ;

good buy? my budget is 1600

what settings should I run the flipper at? contrast and brightness?
ran the flipper over night once ... had to borrow a Panasonic blu ray player from BB because my sony shuts off after 30 mins

because I can't notice the IR or Burn in when watching movies should I even worry about it? hahah

I don't play games often , but my wife and I like to play Mario on the wii U for a hour or two every other day or so. because the TV has 300 ish hours are we ok to play games and not have to worry about Burn In? Contrast low of course.

thanks! also sorry if these questions been ask in another thread.

Woops wrong place to put this ... I need to be in the VT60! , Feel free to delete this and Ill re post in the correct channel.

Yes, eyes are that good. The difference between the presets and a proper calibration can be pretty dramatic.

Looky here!

Its one of those things you may not realize until you have seen it. As good as the VT50 is, it looks out standing after a grayscale and gamma calibration.

I would like to say I am a fan of THX cinema. I end up turning down to 27ftl for black room viewing. Maybe just preference. Contrast is so good and it's very easy on the eyes in the dark room. I have it calibrated and have problems with my isf modes so it's my best bet.

My P55VT50 has been giving me an odd issue. The hdmi 2 notification keeps popping up (it's the one connected to my denon) and interrupts what I'm watching.

If I'm streaming something from my phone to the tv (screen mirroring), it stops it and just shows the hdmi 2 port on the top left of the screen. This is going on for about 5 minute intervals. The notification is from the tv and not from my avr. Has anyone else experienced this? I did a self test by holding the volume down button on the tv and holding "ok" on the remote, but it showed that everything was "OK."

I have a bad case of the yellow blobs on my 55in and I'm having a guy from Best Buy come out (warranty is expiring in June). Is it even possible to get the parts for this anymore or am I pretty much screwed?

That would be great but what are the chances? They don't even sell Panasonic plasma's at the stores near me.
