Yes. Same 1080p, but delivered using higher bandwidth, thus allowing less compression.

Supported by selected hardware, minimum broadband speed requirements, and selected ISP's who've signed on to "Open Connect Network" to improve delivery to end users.

I could be mistaken but I believe the "Open Connect Network" requirement was dropped a few months back. Rest of the description is spot on.

So, after opening up my TV, and pulling out the board, I can't seem to find a suffix. I located the 'suffix' wording on the board, which points to two squares with numbers/letters, but none of letters/numbers are highlighted/singled out like I've seen with other versions of the board. Does this mean this board doesn't have a suffix? The board number is TNPH0988 1A.

Thanks for your help.

After software update I too no longer receive ANY Netflix SuperHD in 1080 - just 720 on my 65VT50 quite annoying. VUDU & Amazon are fine. I switch to my Sony Blu-ray player and Netflix is perfect 1080. This definitely happened since the 1.20 update (when I saw the update I was really hoping for the newer smart tv interface) instead I really don't know what it did except ruin Netflix.

Panasonic updates are overrated this late in the game, IMHO.

I don't use Viera tools, as whatever little Netflix streaming I do is via my Oppo 103.

Perfection of image, just as it is right now. That is 100% of what I care about. No need to touch it, or even take a chance affecting it.

If it ain't broke and it's 100% perfect...
Totally agree with the "not updating" after a calibration. There is nothing worse than something changing with the color, black levels, contrast...etc.....and not knowing exactly what changed (by eyeballing it)

Also agree that if one has A Oppo 103 or 105 that it is much better to stream from the Oppo

The Netflix app on my 65VT50 has not been working for about a week and a half. The nf app works fine on my pany bd93 and bd500 and the other apps (Vudu, Amazon, etc.) all work fine on my VT50. The app will act like it is going to launch but then gives the generic error message about checking connection or whatever. Any suggestions, advice, etc would be appreciated.

I had "yellow blobs" on both sides and very obvious, but now I can just barely notice the one on the right hand side. I turned on ECO/Energy saving several weeks back and immediately noticed a reduction in the blobs. And it has continued to get better... or less noticeable. This may sound like heresy, but I also think the picture quality is much better with ECO/Energy saving turned on. The picture has more depth and blacks are blacker. Yeah, it's not as bright but plasmas are not suppose to be overly bright. I think the energy saving mode allows the plasma phosphors to perform within normal parameters and it has allowed my TV to basically heal itself. In addition, I no longer hear any buzzing. Give it a try.

I bought a P55vt50 on 9/12/12. After about 9 months the blinking red light started and the TV would not turn on. So i called panasonic and they sent a repair man out to fix it. I decided to watch the repair man fix it and i noticed that he used the guess and check method (replacing each board until the TV turned back on) and unfortunately for him the last board that he checked was the one that was malfunctioning. There was absolutely no cost to me however i did ask him how much it would have been if this had happened when the warranty was expired.. He estimated that it would have costed around $600. ok so ...some time has passed and at the time of purchase i had also gotten the extended warranty through a third party that covered me for an extra year. Im writing this post because my extended warranty is about to be up in a few months and i absolutely LOVE this TV!...Are there any warranties that i can purchase now to extend the life of my TV? Im afraid that this TV will eventually die and i will be forced to buy something else as Panasonic has given up its plasma line completely. I have never had a Tv like this and i doubt that i will find another on the market today without paying 3-4k. Please help someone!

Contact the company that has your extended warranty and see if they have some option to extend it another year.

I've been using a mix of USB flash drives for watching videos on my 65VT50 for the past 2 years with no problems.

But I just bought a Kingston 256GB stick and it just won't work. Even though the drive is working fine on my laptop and pc.

I've tried reformatting it into a variety of different formats and it doesn't work with any.

Is there a size limit on the USB input on the TV?

Researching, it seems that the VT50 doesn't support USB 3.0 devices which my new flash drive is.

Is this something that Panasonic can resolve with a firmware update (I am on latest) or is it a hardware issue?

Gets even more confusing, as I have a SanDisk 64GB Extreme which is USB 3.0 and works fine.

Maybe my Kingston doesn't work because it's HyperX / DTHX ?

Well, I emailed Panasonic about Netflix quality not any higher than 720 after the latest software update. My email SPECIFICALLY stated as such and asked to have someone look into the problem.

Here is the ridiculous stock reply from Panasonic - notice the sentence of the importance of listening - obviously, since this is a current issue, nobody actually READ the problem I asked about.

Thank you for your inquiry. We apologize for any inconvenience.Thank you for sharing your feedback with us here at Panasonic. We will send your recommendations to our research and development division to be considered in future product lines. I would think it's a size limit. These tv's use an older drive format access. For instance of my two Seagate powered external drives only one will work because it's 2TB in size, the 3TB is not recognized. The larger drive has an increased LBA address size and the tv is not compatible with that. Both are USB 3.0 but of course the tv will only access with 2.0 speeds.

This isn't a Ronco Rotisserie chicken cooker, you don't 'set it and forget it'.

You should have your calibrator come out a MINIMUM of once every 18 months as things drift over time and the panel ages.

I'm sorry, I don't buy the "I won't do an update because it 'MIGHT' change a setting".

My set reacted in much the same manner after my professional calibration, the blobs are basically gone. You have to go looking for them now, and only during hockey games....
