^^ Jealous! The larger GT & VT sets are taking forever to hit retail. My friend said he won't have the 60GT50 in store til the 3rd week of the month....God knows when the VT will show up =/

Bad idea or do they do a good job?

Do a site search for "BB calibration" and you will come up with about half dozen threads that specifically talk about this. Of course my opinion will be looked at as biased but if you want a complete calibration without time limits you need to hire a professional.

Today is probably the only day I ever wished I was in Cleveland.

J/K Chris.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working. (Oh, and plasma didn't die because of logistics problems, nor does OLED ship in big boxes because it comes from Korea.)

Perhaps I misremembered.

i realize it's subjective - but the trim looks cheezy to me and it's a definite bummer. it might've looked 'high-end' years ago when flashy was in.

Yippee! No pressure or anything, but the outcome of this review and comparison with this year's ST & GT models will determine which I order in the next week.

It sounds like a fun evening, and if I were within an hour's drive the beer would most definitely be on me!

Thanks in advance!

Its so small, does it really matter ? You can barley see it. The black area is much smaller than prior years. I do not think a plasma can be made without a bezel, so it is what it is.

Hey Chris,

Bring that display up here, and I'll supply the Canadian Beer!!

You have until tomorrow noon to post your thoughts (allowing for a nice hangover recovery).

Enjoy your evening,

Chris

The only real issue I see with the bezel is when it catches incident light, it does hot spot. You will not be able to miss it because it's basically the same as the Samsung D8000/ES8000 in this regard. The relative thinness doesn't change the effect.

If you have no light sources that are incident to the bezel, it's merely kind of there and -- as Chris says -- much thinner overall than 2011's VT series.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. Agreed. I think people need to see it in person, it is easily the nicest looking tv I've seen.

Can't wait for the review!

Hey Chris.

Usually it takes a day or two for a review to be posted as the reviewer want to be thorough.

See if Chad will post or maybe you can post little tidbits along the way. You know, kind of like what that other guy does.

Samsung 64F8500, Panasonic 65VT50, Oppo 95, Tivo Roamio for OTA, Dish VIP722, Marantz AV8801 preamp, Rotel Amps, Atlantic Tech 8200 speakers, Seaton Submersive HP, Calman 5, Chromapure, Accupel DVG-5000, i1Display3pro, i1pro2, eecolor colorbox.

By my calculation you folks in Cleveland should be at least two beers into this thing, and by all accounts that's enough to start hearing some tongues wag. Lets hear some impressions!

Well she is real thin from top to bottom for once Edge to Edge glass on the front with about a 1" black section around the screen on all 4 sides. Thin piece of silver around the very outside of the very front of the unit. --NO 3D glasses in the box.--

So Far THX mode was a breeze to calibrate. Day and Night time modes are being worked on now.
Black levels not checked yet. Chad is saying it "looks" to be quite darker than the GT50

For those interested, I just started a Panasonic 2012 3D Glasses Discussion Thread. Hopefully we can get enough people to try out a bunch of different brands and see if we can narrow down a winner.

I thought the same thing when I saw the VT/GT. Not sure if is due to the filter or the MLL is actually lower. I guess we'll find out soon enough!
