HDMI audio input issue

I have the panasonic tc-50pu54 and think I have an hdmi issue with one of my inputs. We just moved and at the old house I thought I had a bad HDMI cable because I would get video but no audio. I never changed it because it was run through the wall and it would have been a pain. Besides the other input worked just fine.

Now at the new house I have the same issue, one input works fine the other gives me video but no audio. I've tried different cables with no luck and different sources (AppleTV and Chrome cast) with the same result.

I'm using an optical cable to a sound bar which works great on the one input but shouldn't it work on both inputs?.

Do you think I have a bad input or is there a tv setting i don't know about?

Thanks

8 blinks of death

I guess I don't have to worry about my HDMI issue any more. I was watching the SEC basketball tournament last night and all off a sudden the screen went blank and the red power indicator light started blinking. It flashes 8 times and then pauses then repeats. From my googling it seems that one of the boards or circuits is fried.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I look into getting it replaced or bite the bullet and get a new tv?. The tv is about 2.5 years old.
