FWIW, I'll be recalibrating my VT50 the week of the 4th. I'll most likely be renting a i1pro2. I'll post results if I do.

Unfortunately it seems Spectracal is no longer renting. I'll most likely still give it a once over with my i1pro and id3 or I could always buy the i1pro2 then ebay it.

Can't you just profile your I1d3 and calibrate with that. Chad used a profiled I1d3 on my set and it produced outstanding results.

I can but I'm lazy ;-) Plus TBH I don't trust it anymore.

Maybe I'll get a new C3...

Profiled off of a Jeti 1211. That's the way to do it.

Is there a good guide on profiling an i1d3? That's one thing I didn't get into yet and have so far simply relied on out-of-the-box accuracy of the i1d3.

Sorry for the tardy reply
Pretty easy in calman just a few quick pattern measurements. Of course you need a spectro to profike against

Thanks chunon. That's what I was afraid of, as I don't have the spectro unfortunately. I would have hoped that a spectro profile could be downloaded in terms of values, and then Calman could profile the i1d3 against those values... Oh well... I may have to figure out a way to get my hands on a spectro for quick profiling but don't plan on buying one just yet...

There is a way to manually load a profile but because of panel and meter variance the results would be less than optimal.

I see, thanks again for the info on this. Is "less than optimal" bad enough that it's not worth it, or would it be still in the realm of improvement over the unprofiled meter? I guess that depends on those panel and meter variances, but not sure if these variances are big enough to make it not worth profiling without a spectro itself... Just wondering what the experience is with this out there... Obviously I wouldn't want to mess with it if there is a chance of making the meter only less accurate...

That's a hard question to answer, because you will really never know if the profile is accurate without a reference. Some of the Chromapure users have gotten very good results with offset tables I believe. Really where you would see the improvement is in CMS measurements.

Quick settings Q that I thought I knew the answer to and I don't:

Where is the setting for adjusting the vertical bars from Gray->Black for 4:3 content? I'm stuck in Gray mode and it kills me.

The Side Panel setting. You'll see it as default, High. Should be above overscan.
