Hey,
I was just wondering if the Panasonic TH-50UT50 is worth it for its money, or is the ST50 a lot better. What are the differences between the UT and ST Series, as in picture quality wise. I went to the store but the ST50 looked way better than the UT50. The picture looked more clear and brighter. Is this a salesman trick of tweaking the settings?? I live in New Zealand so it is TH-
It is about $500 difference here(New Zealand Dollar)
I want to know, from people who have seen and/or experimented with both.
I don't mind other people's opinion.
Also, Is Panasonic the best Plasma TV brand, and If I want to get a LED , would Sony be the best brand.

Please Reply,
Thanks,
Dhilan

Black levels are pretty much the same, ST50 has an AR filter UT50 doesn't. ST50 has better bright room performance as a result. ST50 has a custom mode for adjusting white balance etc, same can be accomplished in service menu with UT50 just not as user friendly. If you are watching in a dark or light controlled room probably not much of a difference,

The flood lights will make the st50 shine while washing out the ut50 due to the screen filter.
Panasonic has their problems like any other brand, their handling of the rapid black level rise on 2009-2010 Plasmas was in my opinion poor. They however rated as the most reliable brand of plasma and the 2012 models are rated higher than the Samsungs on professional review sites.
Sony is probably your best bet in this price range for leds the nx720 is a good screen all around.

My room, is a mix of both bright and dark. When the sun comes out its bright, and when there is no sun(mainly in winter) its not that bright.
Is the UT50 still worth it for its price over the ST50 or should I spend a few more bucks for the ST50. I'm looking to buy one before the olympics start.
