You may have a problem finding a 42" plasma now, they have been discontinued except maybe on the low end 720p models, since LCD/LED has pretty much taken over the under 50" size.
The better plasmas in 2012 start at 50" and up now.

Thanks for the info, I may have to go LED/LCD in the office then... not a big deal, just hope I can avoid the motion blur on sports.
Thanks!
I'd recommend for a good nofrills 1080p 40" or so decent priced LED model, check out the Samsung EH5000 and EH6000 series.
The EH5000 is 60hz, the EH6000 is 120hz - the latter might help reduce motion blur if you try different auto motion settings.

Why edit your post? Weren't you saying something about people on here not taking enough time out of their day to provide free information to you?
You answered most of your own questions when you started the thread, you want either a plasma, a dlp with a variable iris (or laser driven) or an LCD with local dimming. If you absolutely want a 42 inch decent plasma check out an s30 by Panasonic or one of their professional models.
