Here's the real take it to the bank and cash it truth!
Until Panasonic can make a set that when viewed side by side with the greatest Kuro ever made--until it can kick Kuro's a$$ then every product and all that Panasonic is and stands for means absolutely NOTHING!!!
It would be LUDICROUS for a Corvette from 4 or five years ago to have better performance than the current Corvette.
The same applies to Panasonic in its relation to Pioneer's Kuro.
They BOUGHT the patents to dethrone Pioneer's Kuro.
The fact that after these 4 or 5 years that they're still unable to do so--for WHATEVER reasons--technical or financial--means that Panasonic is just a bunch of LOSERS!
If people here are SICK of hearing about the Kuro then maybe they should contact Panasonic and tell them that if they can't beat Kuro that they just flat out suck and if they suck long enough eventually they'll go out of business.
If that doesn't work tell them that they are a disgrace to the nation of Japan and the Japanese people!
Tell them you are ashamed to have them sold as a product in the USA!
Tell them that the future Chinese OLED producers are already laughing at them!
If the ZT60 really is that great then they should not have any problem with side by side face-offs in every AV review mag currently being published or on the net!
We don't need to usual AV Industry plant sales force suspects' comments we always hear around here after CES.
We need Panasonic to put up or shut up!
If Panasonic would have been making plasmas that were better than Kuros for the last few years maybe we wouldn't be facing the total world wide domination LCD apocalyptic horror holocaust!
Buy plasma--even plasma that sucks compared to Kuros is 1 million percent better than the HORROR of LCD!!!

Thing is regarding black levels of the ZT, what Kuro in comparison ?. The 101 and 500M, didnt they do a calibrated 0.0005mll or sometimes lower sort of thing. So (realistically) how much lower will it need to go to be obvious side by side in a black room. Talking near 0mll or something surley. Bit of a risk imho with OLED so close and so expensive from a manufacturer pov... All speculation of course.
you amuse me all the time wee stueyQuote:

Correct, there's no deletion option (unfortunately or fortunately).

OK, thanks for smacking me upside the head with that fact. There it is (I was always looking in the wrong place).

Can you really be surprised though? There will never be another display so far ahead of everyone else (in 2008, but still somewhat ahead even today) in PQ. Even if the ZT60 or F8500 finally matches, or even surpasses, the kuro. We're talking bits here and there. The kuro is as good as it gets until 4K OLED becomes the norm. That would be an obvious difference everyone will notice.
And facts aren't BS.

So even if the ZT60 or F8500 surpass the kuro, the kuro will be as good as it gets? Even though the kuro maxes out at 60", doesn't do 3d, or have any of the smart features of the newer tvs? You, sir, are crazy.

Let me try again: We soon may be looking at a world with NO MORE plasmas--OLED that is BOTH small and expensive and domination by INFERIOR LCD.
People around here don't want to face that possibility.
They figure surely OLED will get here just in the nick of time to spare the world from world wide LCD domination.
Don't count on it!
Does anyone want a 1974Mustang II? Does anyone want a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette?
Better performance does not always happen in the market place--sometimes performance goes backwards!
Just because it was possible to build great performance cars in 1975 didn't mean that they were being produced.
Just because the world might have the knowhow to produce a better than Kuro quality video display doesn't mean that it will be produced.
In an all LCD world we will go backwards in video performance just as much as car performance went backwards in 1975.
The BRIGHTNESS performance of LCDs will be as meaningless as miles per gallon performance was in cars in 1975.
Cars SUCKED in 1975 and video displays in an all LCD world will SUCK, too!
IF OLED doesn't happen then it will be quite a bitter fantasy.
Looking back at Kuros will be about like looking at Hadrian's Wall in the late 400s overgrown with weeds.
Will the Dark Ages of LCD last as long as the Dark Ages after the Fall of the Roman Empire?

I'm talking about PQ, not a bunch of apps people already have on their BD players. Do people really buy TV's based on what kind of app it has? I don't care for 3D or any smart thingy a TV has. Give me the best picture you can and I'm happy.
