Two different needs are being addressed. Size is usually more important. Even up close, a 55" screen gives a larger representation of the source material. I don't think it's possible to compare size to features.

I would definitely get a 55" ST50. That's a no brainer to me!

since both sets have great PQ and are highly recommended, go for the bigger one

Another vote for the 55ST50 unless you value the style of the GT more than the extra size of the same price ST model.

Go with the 55ST50. I've had one since June and it is one fine display and, for me, zero problems. And they are $250 off at Best Buy (should check to be sure, price drop began 7/22).

What are you looking for? Obviously, if size is your deciding factor then go with the 55.

The GT gives you a different look (style) and dual processor (faster apps). And one more each of HDMI and USB. And some more predefined modes.

But as to PQ, you would probably not be able to tell them apart.

If you don't need the 4HDMI inputs and 3 will suffice get the ST no substitute for cubic inches except more of them.

The ST50 doesn't have 10-points greyscales & full CMS controls. Is it correct ?
If it was true I would go for the VT50

Hello,
While I am a 60GT50 owner, I too would go with the 55ST50 if having to choose between a 50 inch and a 55 inch Panel. I really think you will be quite happy with the 55ST50 with the major difference being cosmetic between the 2.
Cheers,
AD
