The TC - P54 Panny G25

I talked to a career HT guy today , went to his store today instead of the usual Best Buy etc... he sells high end TV's etc , installs , calibration etc,

He said in all his years of doing this - the most compete Plasma he's dealt with is the G25 , he said while the newer Panny's may claim better blacks, better PQ etc , he said not true. He showed me 300 hour broken in Calibrated G25 and it was marvelous; not for sale though.

And zero IR.

Just one man's opinion but this was not a sales pitch as he didn't have any nor do they still make them.

I think I remember a similar post from you some time ago. It was nonsense then, and nonsense now.

Yes, it is just one person's opinion. But most would say the VT50 is the best Panny plasma, and they'd be right.

The best Panny Plasma is ... the one you own. People are biased.

There is no perfect display.

Rising black levels, fluctuating brightness, poor black levels, poor color fidelity, poor gamma, poor grayscale tracking, red tint, dirty screen effect, clouding, flashlighting, buzzing, line bleed, reflective, image retention, etc are just some of the problems that have plagued displays over the years.

Find one who that exhibits the least faults, or at least has faults that you can live with, and get that one.

Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

Pretty much everybody here would agree that your HT guy is just plain wrong.

Wait. I was told it was the TC-P50X5. How can this not be the greatest Panasonic Plasma of all time?

From what I've seen, the Panny Plasma's get better every year. Some years the improvement is more than others. This year had a big jump.
