Local video store is running a deal on Panny 65" VT30 ($2,399). Which is a better deal, the VT30 or a ST50 at $2,100? They are also running an ST30 at $1,799 but the PQ just doesn't seem as crisp.

My first big plasma. Thanks in advance.

I have heard from various sources that the ST50 is indeed better than the VT30.

What will you be using the TV for mainly?

Thanks. Usage will be casual viewing of streaming movies and programs streamed from AppleTV, mac mini, live comcast cable. Hockey and baseball are popular around the house.

We'll probably add a blue ray player once we buy this 65" plasma but the fact we don't own one now and watch most of our content on a 34" Vizio LCD probably tells you something about our standards for image quality...

Will you be gaming at all?

I'm sure either one of those sets will be a great leap over your Vizio LCD! smile.gif

The VT30 isn't in the same league as the ST50

Pioneer KRP-500m
Panasonic 65VT50
M&K LCR-750s Fronts and Center
M&K M-4T Surrounds
X-Rite i1pro

I have the VT30 and coming from 42 inch G10, it is leaps and bounds. if you have the space to accomdate the 65, i would definitly go for the 65.
when i got my Vt30 55 inch early this year, the ST as compared is close but the VT offer more adjustments. IF the cost of the 65 VT30 was withing my spending range, i would have jump it , but not eek.gif
so i decided to go for the 55 as my place is limited in size. BUT from a 42 to 55 , it was really really nice.

so as i said earlier, if you have the space, go for the largest screen you can fit on your place.
