Not cool. Bigger is always better regardless of budget, personal preference, or viewing environment.

No exceptions!

The only remaining 42" Panasonic is the X5 series, but it also seems to have been discontinued, and Samsung makes at least one 42 incher - but all of these are "720p" sets. Nobody makes a 46 incher this year.

You may be able to find a leftover 2011 42ST30 or 46ST30 somewhere, these were excellent 1080p sets.

It's unfortunate that Panasonic abandoned the 42"/46" market because not everyone has room for a larger 50 incher. But if you can go 50 inches, the U50 and UT50 are solid options.

Baaahhhh looks like I'm going to be waiting for a deal on the 50ST50 like every one else. Its going in my bed room I only sit like 6' away from it.

I hate how the UT keeps going on sale but not the higher up ones. Bestbuy and Neweeg only have the UT, Bestbuy has others online but not in any store around here.

6feet away is excellent distance for the 50" - I have a 50ST50 and can view even closer like 5feet away and it looks best at that closer distance for 1080p HD 3D titles.
I used to have a 4 year old 46" Panasonic 1080p plasma at that distance and the 50" is much better, could have even gone to 55"

Interesting but the price is similar for a 42" UT50 as the bigger 50" UT50, go for the 50" at similar price!

TC-P42UT50 is now unavailable on Amazon. I bought one; now I hope the screen isn't cracked, again.

Unbelievably, this latest TC-P42UT50 had a flaw, Panasonic suggested, in the panel. It took about fifteen minutes for a band of purple pixils to appear about one inch below the top of the screen. The pixils came and went in changing density and intensity. I sent it back to Amazon.mad.gif
