I'm happy with my Panasonic 55ST50, but I'm not sure whether I should turn it off if I want to leave the room for say 30 minutes or 2 hours, or if it's better for the set to stay on for such periods of time.

Your suggestions will be appreciated smile.gif

Completely lacking info here. Why the heck would you leave an appliance on when not using it for .5 hr to 2 hrs? You have some purpose to running it? Are you trying to age your phosphors or something?

One of the things that can prematurely age electronics is too frequent on/off cycles. The set I watch most is in my bedroom and I don't turn it off everytime I leave the room to make a sandwich or to answer the doorbell. On the other hand if I'm leaving with the expectation of being gone for an hour or so I'll turn it off. In the case of a plasma it might be a good idea to make sure it's on fullscreen content if you're going to leave it on unattended for more than half an hour or so.
