A recent firmware update in November 2012 has caused many Samsung Plasma and LED TV's to have display problems when viewing 1080p content.

Here is a YouTube video of the problem...

Someone on the Cnet Forums found a temporary solution to this software problem ...

If you disable SyncPlus app in smart hub the tv is perfect.
Enable it, lines and picture jumping.
So it is an issue with SyncPlus.
I have it disabled and the tv has been perfect and internet connected (ethernet cable).

Firmware ver 1023.2
Smart Hub ver 4.5101-5.0
Smart Hub updated 11-14-2012

Hopefully Samsung fixes this software problem...

Funny, I tried to update my firmware today as my Amazon VOD app and another that was installed with the SmartHub update tell me that my firmware needs to be updated. However, I go to update over the web, and it says there is no update available for my PN51E550.

Perhaps they pulled the update due to these issues?

yomaster, it appears you are right - they pulled the update due to this issue.
see this thread

count yourself as lucky as everyone has this 1080p issue after update.

btw- to turn off sync-plus one must uncheck the privacy notice otherwise sync-plus will turn on each time the tv is powered on regardless if the setting is turned off.

Hell, I'm still stuck at 1020.1. I can't even get my set to download 1022.2. Wonder how far they rolled it back. I noticed that the PN60E550 still has the 1022.2 firmware listed for download on the Samsung website, but the PN51E550 only has 1012.9 (July, 2012), even though I'm at a far more recent firmware. Pretty ridiculous of an oversight from Samsung to be releasing firmware that cripples television sets.

I got the 1023 update a couple weeks ago for my 60E550. The only problem I had was that the TV stuck on Dynamic until I did a reset. All was fine after that. I see that Samsung has pulled the 1023 update now and only has 1022.1 available.

I am having the same exact issue. Except its not just with the ps3. It's also with the Apple TV. My work around was to set both to 1080i. Work fine except you will lose the 3d on the ps3. I just picked this TV up from best buy a week ago and was getting frustrated because I didn't really know how to explain this problem and bestbuy employees suck at knowing things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjP2ZZYQIRs

FWIW, I got the 1024 update like Wednesday. It created a few problems with settings until I did like 3 resets. Everything was good after that.

It screwed up networking the most until I put the Samsung MAC address into my router. It took that to get networking going again. Otherwise I couldn't connect to SmartHub and all.
