Purchased the PN64E533D2 back in JAN '13 at Costco for the $1250, then went back a couple of weeks later to get the $200 since they lowered the price (score!). IIRC, I did purchase the additional service plan.
Have an old 42" LG that is 5+ years old, wanted a larger screen size so originally went with a 65" LED (forget which one), but couldn't tolerate the difference between LED and Plasma so ended up with this. Couldn't be happier, and was about the same price as what I paid for the old LG. PQ is great. Regularly watch in a bright room with multiple northern windows with few issues, plenty bright. Initially heard some buzzing that seemed to get lower over time, and now I don't notice it at all unless I TRY to hear it.
Anyway, over the past two days, it would power itself off and then back on for short intervals. Red power light would blink 3x. Now it won't turn on at all. Called Costco Concierge Service and after basic "are you sure it's plugged in" troubleshooting steps, I now have an appointment scheduled with a service center. They did have me unplug TV from wall, hold down power button for 30 secs, then plug back in... no change. Once plugged back in, could hear a slight pop near the power cord when it would power itself on.
As I have been searching AVSForums for this problem, the TV has been sitting here presumably off. About once every 10-15 mins or so, it will randomly power itself on for 5-30 seconds, then power off again.
We'll see what happens next, will update here.
