You are talking Mar-May before we really know whats going on, then give a few more months for other reviews and the shootout. I stopped buying displays in the first 6 months because of all the problems found over the last few years. If I had to buy right now, it would be a 2012 model at end of life cycle because I know what Im getting in to.

Everything will be released successively from least expensive series to most expensive series between Feb and May for the most part.

Thanks, yeah I agree. The only time I really don't follow this is when there is a huge leap in quality/features etc...

But none of that scandal really has anything to do with their 2013 lineup or their future in PDP. Panasonic seems to be more committed to Plasma this year moreso than the other two companies and i think the reduced number of 2013 Samsung and LG models may actually help boost Panasonic sales this year. Panasonic needs to do a lot more marketing and advertising - word of mouth recommendations isn't enough to move product in this competitive world.
Nope, not HH Gregg. This is in the southwest, and there are only 2 of them (Boulevard is the name). They didn't make any insinuations about Panasonic folding, just that the margins weren't as good as with other TVs they carry....so at least there was some honesty in what he stated. It still leaves me without a way to see the ZT60 in person (without making a 2-hour drive at the minimum to the big city), as I doubt the satellite Best Buy will carry that model. It has all the makings of a Magnolia set.

Wow, that is too funny. Trying to figure out black level by looking at a picture with your own computer screen's crappy black level?! Please tell me this was a subtle attempt at irony.

New Plasma flagship is the ZT series. Very interested to find PQ differences between it and the new VT series. And, of course, pricing.

Isn't the real benchmark/flagship Panasonic Plasma the TH Professional series? Seems they pretty much put the Kuro's out of the game and Samsung is trying to catch
that series.

Here's irony: you have contributed nothing to the thread except to show up and try to slam me for trying to add value. I owned 2 Kuros and now own a VT 50. I included caveats in the post you reference which ironically enough you didn't read apparently.

When I said spring/summer, they had said May 2013. We will see.........

With there being a VT60, I wonder where the price will be on the ZT60 ? I assume higher than the release price of the VT50 in the 2012 launch.

This might be a real dumb question, but I'm in the market for a new plasma TV this year as I cant stand the blooming on my Sony HX 909 52...would the ST60 be a substantial upgrade for me ?

The ST50 got pretty good reviews last year, and the ST60 should be a little better I would think. At $1,599 for the 55", its well in my price range.

Thanks in advance.

Any plasma will solve the blooming issue since this is inherent on a majority of LCD/LED sets. I would encourage you to look at Panasonic as they are arguably the premier plasma on the market. The ST50 was unofficially crowned the best value on the market last year, so I would expect similar things this year.

Thanks for the reply, overall I'm happy with the PQ and blacks on the Sony...its just that darn blooming that bugs the hell out of me.

If the ST60 could match or better the PQ/blacks....I'm all in for this TV wink.gif

I have the entry level 2010 65" Panny Plasma (S series). I was hoping that the 2013 lineup would include a 70" screen. Since it did not I am now wondering whether to look for a good deal on the 65VT50 or wait to hear what the prices will be for the 65VT60. If the 60 series will be priced near today's current sale price for the 50 series I should probably wait. Do you think Panasonic is waiting to release their 2013 prices to allow retailers time to sell their 2012 inventory? I would think if the 2013 prices for the VT60 will be lower than the VT50 series that retailers will have a difficult times selling 2012 inventory.

I think its a safe bet prices will be higher on the Vt60 and it uses the same panel as the vt50 unless you are planning on moving up to the z series i would go for a discounted vt50 one heck of a set

What is amazing to me is this thread already has 11 pages (not to mention a parallel thread also discussing the new panasonics).

If you flip over to the lcd forum, there are a few 2013 led threads that might have two or three pages max.

I'm from Perú and the only way that i have good picture quality on my gt50 is THX Modes, we don't have any calibrator in our region. I think that THX it's not just marketing. (We have pro modes but no custom). I know that this is a north american forum and you discuse only about your country.

PS: The ZT60 could be my next tv smile.gif

I've been looking to buy the a ST50 60" but the reports of buzzing panels have me a bit concerned. I wonder if Panasonc has addressed the buzzing issue with the upcoming 60 series. I'm sure the prices of the ST50 60" will drop a bit but I'm wondering if I should wait for the ST60 60".

Not all the pro series are a "benchmark", I dont know what you keep going on about. VX300 is a pretty fine display, but then we start getting into cost differences, laack of tuner and inputs, etc...

Two different purposes.

This is only true if the picture's color space is accurate. You can make a camera exaggerate light levels with longer exposure. So you won't see the "true" black levels, but you will see the difference.

(Not saying that's what happened in quoted picture)

I do not know, I hope no more than $4999. I do know I see you in the other thread's Brian.

I tell people on the phone all the time,
If you do not want a blue car do not buy it. Do not buy it and wish it a different color and not be happy with it ====
Do not buy an LED or other devise with all of there "known" issues ,and wish them away when your set does similar things.
The moral to the story is, "It is what it is." whether it is liked or not. Pick your imperfect demon and buy it. tongue.gif
