So the F8500 **might** be better than the VT60 (hopefully cheaper as well) and on par with the PZT60, which is probably going to be more expensive eek.gif. Very promising.

I am all-but certain that the F8500 will be significantly cheaper than the ZT60.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working. (Oh, and plasma didn't die because of logistics problems, nor does OLED ship in big boxes because it comes from Korea.)

Sorry Rogo, but my native language is not english so I´m not sure (used google translate) if you mean that it will be siginificantly cheaper or only a little.

Heres hoping quite a bit cheaper since this will be my first plasma and I would really like a high end model, but in the other hand the most I can spend is the equivalent to +-3400$ for a 64-65" inch model (right now I could buy the PN64E8000 for 3000$ compared to 3600$ for the Panasonic 65VT50), Is it like "keep dreaming" to think that the 64" F8500, will be prized within my budget by july-August?

THANKS smile.gif

In all of the write ups about 5500 I've seen so far, everyone says that it is the follow up to the current 550. So that both the 7000 and the 6500 no longer have equivalents.

Ugh - this TV sounds amazing but I absolutely hate the stand. Why couldn't Samsung have kept the "invisible" stand from the D series - it was perfect and looked great for people that couldn't mount their TV's.

I agree was just trying to make it easier for the person I was replying to ;-).....The 8,7 and 6500 were all basically the same with different "bonuses", this year Samsung is doing a better job of seperating thier line up which IMO is good....High Middle and Low no need for middle groupings.....

We dont know where the source of the buzzing is, which is the whole point that some of the posters were saying....Until these units get out people can say it was the panel or it wasnt the pnael unless you saw it and were up close and can verify that it was FOR SURE 100% the panel then we are all just guessing........

So you have had experience with the F8500? I guess we should ask who should we contact as next of kin wink.gif .........While Samsungs have been known to buzz (I dont deny that) to say that you are 100% sure it IS the panel in question that is casuing the buzz is ike myself saying I can tell that 100% a movie sucks from the trailer I see posted unknown person with a cam they have......Im am not saying it isnt the panel buzzing, itt could very well be, what I am saying there isnt enough evidence to say where the source of the buzz is coming from only that it is close to the panel.....

I wonder how the dithering is on such a bright plasma. I do notice dithering from my normal seating position with my plasma.

Their non-North American models had undefeatable noise reduction though.

Topcat, no need to apologize.

I mean that I believe the Samsung will be much less money than the Panasonic, probably $500-1000.

I think that you should be able to buy the F8500 64" within your budget by July-August, yes.

All the 2012 panasonic's had undefeatable edge enhancement. Easily seen in resolution tests. This was mentioned in detail during the 2012 shootout.

Panasonic was indeed missing some decent video processing. Really one of the biggest faults of vt50. It's basically a computer monitor. Samsung's video processing is far beyond what panasonic offers. Watching anything that's not off of a disc you need some decent processing.

I think it was the overseas Samsungs in 2011 (and maybe 2012) that had undefeatable EE - but not in the U.S.

None of the 2011 models I reviewed had undefeatable EE in Europe.
Some other undefeatable problems though.

I sense that this Samsung F8500 may really be evolutionary for them. I have seen virtually NO new scuttle on this series of plasma for 2013 since the CES...nothing in the last couple of weeks that is. Hmmm.eek.gif

That noise is clearly "electronic interference". To hear "real buzz" you'll need to check it out personally.

I'm totally intrigued by this TV, I know I'll get lambasted for saying this but I always find plasmas brightness and whites a killing point BUT if they truly jacked up brightness and whites then I am all aboard to get the 50" version!! I've had nothing but Samsung HDTVs since the old original DLP days and my present then top of the line 850 series lcd is ready for a upgrade, until I saw this tv I narrowed my choices to the Panny newly coming ST60 or sammy 6500 led but this has me rethinking all together.. Anyone have a guess when we'll see the F8500 released in the US??

PS:reason for my choices is I want bigger then my present 46" but cannot not go 55" do to space limitations..

It looks like the Panasonic ST60 and VT60s may not be too different from the ST50 and VT50 models (I don't have hard facts, but just following the Panasonic board, with recent comments from Dnice about black levels not being different on those models this year).
The ZT60 will likely end up being the best plasma available this year, but it will be very interesting to see where the F8500 fits in performance wise. I wonder if they can squeeze into the #2 spot at a very good price....here's hoping!

Spoken like a true panny guy I presume lol smile.gif ..
I have to say when at work I watch Vizio, LG and Panasonics HDTVs.. It must just be a personal thing but I just prefer Sammys over the others although the Panasonic always runs very close.. That said it helps through the years the only issues I have had with my Sammys was a engine prob with one of my early DLPs which Samsung serviced(replaced) at no charge and this was when the set was well out of warranty..
