Just picked up a 50st60 at BB. currently watching harry potter and the half blood prince. I have to say picture quality is excellent, but whats surprising me the most is the sound quality. Its way above average for tv speakers IMO.

I was told that if you flag your own post and request that it be deleted, the monitors will do it for you. smile.gif

There doesn't seem to be an explanation for why everyone can't delete their own posts. It was a new "feature" added with the new software.

EDIT: I've since been informed that it's a lag time problem. rolleyes.gif

Skyrim, Metro 2033, Mirror's Edge (looks stunning with this plasma), and some others, even Trine 2 with a wireless 360 controller. The lag is there but not that annoying; I can play the games just fine. As I said, I hadn't noticed the lag until I read about it on a review.

Well, where were we supposed to discuss the lag of the ST60 after the first lag test results came in. I mean I was legitimately ramping up my researching of tv's the last couple days and the first report came in.

All the different threads, just on Panasonic Plasmas alone...it is pretty chaotic for a new guy to the plasma threads to get his footing. There should probably be a little bit nicer general thread for each brand. It was nice of Randy Walters to start this one...http://www.avsforum.com/t/1451436/official-panasonic-2013-lineup-and-information-thread. But he could use some help in expanding it. I'm sure expanding some info into a thread like that and having it updated regularly would help alleviate unnecessary similar questions over and over. It's been a little tough coming to an understanding of what model to choose, with scattered info across multiple, and similar on the surface, threads. I'm sure this is always the most chaotic time of the year as well, which doesn't help.

But if these threads want to be cleaned up, it will probably take a lot more than the lag guys leaving. Though a little bit of the lag comments should be in the thread for future readers, I suppose.

If anybody knows more info on when newer plasmas will get tested professionally or by enthusiasts for gaming purposes, or where to find any of that information...maybe we could breathe more life into this thread here...http://www.avsforum.com/t/1166196/the-official-plasma-input-lag-thread/570

Thanks again everybody, for your past and future help.

Input lag feels great to me, but then again, I'm coming from a TV notorious for input lag (Samsung B750 LCD).

As far as price goes, BB had the sticker at $1149 but it rang up at $999 as per the website.

I swear I can see more detail on certain standard def channels than I do HD. If you're only allowing 5-7mb to complete 24-30 1280x720 or 1920x540 images, the result is shared pixel, loss of detail, and noisy blacks. Luckily for them, most people can't tell the difference, so they have no reason to do anything but up their rates and collect the additional profits.

Sadly, this compression and the associated artifacts make it difficult at times to really appreciate the playback abilities of the Panasonic sets. Blu-rays (some, at least) offer the best chance to really view the potential these Panasonics can exhibit.

I'm curious if there are any other improvements, such as dither and video processing. Makes me wish I waited a year for the ST60, but I needed a new TV last year. Still very happy with my ST50 though.

The VT60 also obviously has some additions over the VT50, but we'll have to wait and see if they actually make a noticeable difference.

I bought the 50 st 50 and I am happy it ( well until I started reading these reviews anyway) and I am still within my 30 day return window. For a person that watches mostly HD cable and some SD in a light controlled bedroom and mostly concerned about better blacks and contrast would the improvement be worth the hassle and 200.00 more.I can afford it but don't want to waste money.Anybody seen the the 50" st50 and st60 side by side? Thanks

From a guy who returned a st50 for an st60 HELL YES!!! It's night and day. St50 is like a not quite ripe banana it's good at some things like how a not quite ripe banana might be good sliced up in a bowl of cornflakes, but if it was ripe it would be good in any situation.... The st60 is way better in almost every way. I would encourage anyone who is on the fence and still within the return period to go and get the st60

But I'm a little confused , according to your numbers the light output is much less than the 2009 models because when I was reading HDGuru.com found an article that said:
Quote:
Using a 100 IRE window pattern .... In the THX mode with the user controls (including contrast) optimized, the TCP50G10 measured a very bright and comfortable 31 ft.
Quote:
With the contrast control set to 100% and the picture control set to Vivid, the G10 produced a retina searing maximum brightness of 92.2 ft lamberts (using the same window pattern).

That's not it - newer members have less permissions than older members with higher post counts. Once you've become more established, you eventually get a red X icon available to you so you can delete your own posts. I have a red X available even when i've looked at my old archived posts from 7 years ago - and they work wink.gif

I haven't been in the archives in a long time. My expectation is that any post, current or archived, would display with the current permissions -- what ever that means. wink.gif

There are a lot of links in the owners calibration thread that probably point to archived posts. I'll check a few.

EDIT: I just deleted a post that would have been just before this one. Is there a link to it that the rest of you can see?

Thanks. The last few posts that I've deleted would immediately show up as a link including what ever I entered as the reason. Then the next time I entered the thread, the link would be gone. If it's not there for other readers, then it's a complete delete. I wonder why they ask for a reason?

My deletes are almost always for a redundant post or an outright error.

I would say way better in every situation is stretching it but to each their own. While I have not seen both side by side, I know what both sets are capable of after seeing calibration reports of both. But I agree that the ST60 is a considerable upgrade over the ST50 and is worth $200 more... anything more and it would be a different story IMHO.
