I use the small rubber doorstops to prop my RC-LCR up a bit. Was surprised enough to find a small improvement for the investment.

The Hotel Mode is intentionally hidden to prevent hotel guests from overriding the various restrictions that the hotel had the installer set up (such as limiting the volume to only go up half way so as not to disturb guests in the next room, or locking out all the inputs, disabling the picture settings menus, etc).

There is some danger when going into the Hotel Mode as exploring and activating some of the obscure functions immediately locks out the remote so suddenly you're unable to control the TV or exit the menu. After that happens, you have to have an authorized installer or repair man restore access. It's happened to a few people here a long time ago.

There are two P50ST60's on sale that are open box near me. One has everything for $859 and one is missing the manuals and remote but is only $810. Also, I have been using a 42" Panasonic 720p that I bought in 2004 and it has a one HDMI port that's broken. After measuring my living room, 50" is as large as I can go.

Anyway, would it be worth saving the $50 and not get the remote?

Also, currently, I have an XBMC box and ROKU box hooked up to my current plasma. Do I need to upgrade now or should I wait for this thing to die?

Thanks for any feedback.

Best

Having lived in Germany for several years, I used a US model TV for all those years. (As well as all my US audio equipment). Just need to buy a 110 to 220v transformer. The ST65 requires only 463 watts so you need only a small transformer. The ST60 offers a selection for PAL, which is the European standard. The only issue, is you would need to pay import duty, depending on where you live. While there, I received a replacement HP printer at no charge and I still was required to pay German duty on the suggested retail price.

Good luck.

I just bought a p60st60 and love it. My first plasma. I have probably about 150 hours on it and just started to notice ghosting that goes across the screen in the PLEX menu and in some video game menus. A quick search shows that it's horizontal line bleed. I'm not sure if I just didn't notice it before or if it just started happening after I re-did the wiring in my cabinet. I have not noticed it in normal programming, except on football scores that don't go all the way across the screen.

Is it normal for the ST60 to have this line bleed? Could something with my wiring have caused it to get worse?

Does anyone notice out of sync audio with this one ?

If you're talking about the internal speakers, the TV delays the audio to the internal speakers to compensate for the video lag.

has anyone noticed color banding on the ST60 for smooth gradients (including a continuous grayscale ramp test pattern)? it's there on the S60 and I was wondering if the added shades of gradation on the ST60 reduces or eliminates it

It's amazing that Panasonic can release a TV so beautiful in 2013 & completely shun the concerns of gamers - the lag on this TV is brutal from everywhere I read.

Shunning gamer's concerns like you shun the search function? tongue.gifwink.gif There is a whole thread on the topic, after it was beaten to death here.

In all seriousness though, it's not an issue for most people. If it is for you, you'll have to give up some PQ in favor of an S64 or S60.

The lag has been way overblown by a bunch of people who don't even own the TV repeating what others who don't own the TV have repeated from a few who do actually own the TV. Many of us on here play games without even noticing the lag.

The only time I notice banding is when booting up my Xbox 360, which has a grey gradient background. Once the games are playing, I don't really see it there anymore. I also don't see it from my DirecTV satellite receiver/DVR or from my Oppo BDP80 BluRay player or from my NetGear NeoTV 550 media player. Not having an S60 to compare it to, I don't know if the banding is the same or improved.

Dude... if you haven't been playing competitively on a CRT you won't notice the lag. I hit the button, and things happen. It's no worse than my old LCD by my perception. Wii U and PS3 seem just as responsive as they were before. Just turn all the extra processing crap off (you probably should anyway).

the Xbox 360 is a good example of where the banding is at it's worst... however, like you said I don't see it all the time with all sources... mainly just when there are smooth gradients of a single color

for example, I'm currently playing Splinter Cell Blacklist on the PS3 and I don't see banding most of the time while playing

Does anyone know if the P50ST60 outputs 5.1 sound through its optical out port if the cable box is connected via component cable?

Optical out only delivers 5.1 for OTA and internal apps, anything external to the tv will be output as 2 channel.

Alright, thanks. Another question: Does anyone know how high the bottom lip of the P50ST60 is? I'm considering getting a soundbar (VIZIO S4251w) that is 3.74" high and 42.32" wide. Will that block the remote sensor or any of the picture?

OK calm down drama queen

Over and over you keep repeating the same thing

The response time for these TVs are easy to find and it's been repeated NUMEROUS times that the lag times on the ST60 is not that bad unless you're some hardcore neckbeard gamer.

You had the choice to get the S60/S64/VT60/ZT60 if you wanted better response times, so stop complain already because the only person you have to blame is yourself!

It is about 2 1/2 inches from the bottom lip to the tv stand. That soundbar will block the sensor, and maybe even a little bit of the picture.

Grrrr. Do you think it's safe to place the pedestal on a very sturdy large book/box in order to raise it a bit?

A box...probably not. A book, perhaps if it is larger than the base....but if you need to raise it just a bit, I would recommend instead getting a nice piece of wood at the local hardware store that is wider than the base (front to back) and then cut it to about half the width of the screen itself so you have a nice wide sturdy base. Then either paint it or stain it to match the stand you are putting it on.
